AAA is here to support families as they continue their children’s educational journey. AAA is committed to families transferring from SUFS is to make the process as seamless as possible. AAA is working to ensure an efficient application process for any students from SUFS who choose to apply with AAA for the 2026-27 school year.

Understanding Eligibility for AAA Scholarships

To access the benefits of AAA Scholarships, it’s crucial to understand the eligibility criteria, including income requirements. Interested households must complete AAA’s online or paper application and provide supporting documentation in order to prove their eligibility. The households must meet both the state and AAA’s requirements. Each household member is required to provide proof of income. Once a household is determined eligible, they are provided with an award letter and school commitment form (SCF) for each scholarship student. In Alabama, Florida and Pennsylvania all households must reapply annually. In Arizona and Georgia scholarships may be systematically renewed for multiple years without fully-reapplying.

Important: A parent or guardian with a legal domicile in Florida but who are currently on orders to another state is not eligible to apply for the scholarship for the first time. Previous ties to Florida, such as having lived in the state or holding a past Florida identification card, are not sufficient for eligibility.

However, if you are an active-duty member of the United States Armed Forces and have been given permanent change of station orders to move to Florida, you will be eligible for the Private School Scholarship (FTC/FES-EO), Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA) and the PEP Scholarship before you make your move.

Application Process and Deadlines

New families will need to first create an account on our secure, online SMP and then complete and submit an application. In order to prove their eligibility, households must complete AAA Scholarship Foundation’s application and provide supporting documentation by the stated deadline. During our busiest times of the year, initial processing of applications may take up to 10-12 weeks after submission.

Private School & Unique Abilities Scholarship Families need to submit their renewal application by Thursday, April 30. PEP Scholarship Families also need to submit all renewal and new applications must be submitted by Thursday, April 30, to give every student the opportunity they deserve.

FES-UA applications submitted by renewing applicants after the April 30th deadline will be processed as new (“non-priority”) applicants.

Required Documentation

Types of AAA Scholarships in Florida

Florida offers two main types of AAA Scholarships: the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC) and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO). AAA administers two state-approved Florida scholarship programs for children with no eligible disabilities: (1) the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (“FTC”) and (2) the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (“FES-EO”). Eligible Florida students who are not full-time private or public school students may be granted a Personalized Education Program (PEP) Scholarship.

Students may use the Unique Abilities Scholarship and the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program at an eligible private school at the same time. The Unique Abilities Scholarships vary based on a student’s grade level, county of residence and level of need. On average, scholarships are about $10,000.

Personalized Education Program (PEP) Scholarship

Eligible Florida students who are not full-time private or public school students may be granted a Personalized Education Program (PEP) Scholarship. Cameras are eligible for reimbursement under all scholarships (PEP, Unique Abilities, and Private School) as equipment for an elective course within the Instructional Material category.

Scholarship Award Amounts

You can view the 2025-26 scholarship FTC/FES-EO and PEP award amounts here. The value of the awarded scholarship amount is limited by the state (except for Alabama).

Maintaining Scholarship Eligibility and Compliance

Four times during the school year, AAA sends each participating school a verification form to ascertain whether the student remains enrolled and is current on any funds personally owed to the school. Once received back, AAA disburses one quarter of the scholarship award in the form of a check made payable to the parent/guardian but for deposit only by the school.

Four times during the year, schools will be notified to complete a Verification Report and you will be notified to complete a Payment Approval Form. The school will verify that the student remains enrolled, is attending regularly, and if the family is current on any funds personally owed to the school. You will also verify that the student remains enrolled there and authorize payment to be made to the school.

If a household receives an SCF in error or their eligibility is revoked, the private school that has enrolled the student will be notified as soon as possible. By accepting the scholarship student(s) and scholarship payment(s) the private school agrees to repay any incorrectly made or overpayment of funds on behalf of the student(s), regardless of the reason.

School Responsibilities

Administrators of eligible Florida schools were sent an invitation on Saturday, 2/1/2025 to join AAA’s new and improved SMP for the 2025-26 school year. The SMP system is designed to display scholarship information for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. Approval of your school to participate in the scholarship program does not equate to approval of scholarships for students. Each student must be approved for a scholarship by AAA (and have that scholarship funded) before any payments will be processed.

Transferring Schools

If your student will be using the scholarship to attend private school, you will complete and submit a School Commitment Form (SCF) to us. Failure to timely submit the SCF informing us of where your student is enrolled may result in a forfeiture of the awarded scholarship. If you decide to transfer to a different eligible private school later in the year, you will need to contact us for instructions on how to complete and submit a new SCF.

Current SUFS students transferring to AAA will retain their renewal status.

Scholarship Payments

AAA will process the submission and contact the parent if more information or clarification is needed.

It is your right and responsibility to read and understand a private school’s admission and conduct policy before requesting to enroll your student(s) in an eligible private school. You should not rely solely on the fact that a school meets the state eligibility requirements to determine whether the school is appropriate for your student(s).
