GPA Requirements: What You Need to Know
Adelphi University does not have a specific minimum GPA requirement for admission, but your GPA does play a significant role in the evaluation of your application. However, the GPA requirement that really matters is the GPA you need for a real chance of getting in. The average GPA of Adelphi University’s incoming freshmen class is typically around a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. This indicates a strong academic performance in high school. This average GPA means Adelphi University is very selective. Often times, schools in this range are trying to increase their selectivity and “prestige”.
To be a competitive applicant, you'll need at least a mix of A's and B's, with more A's than B's. You can compensate for a lower GPA with harder classes, like AP or IB classes. If you're currently a junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change in time for college applications. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.7, you'll need a higher SAT or ACT score to compensate.

SAT Scores
Adelphi University’s average SAT score is 1110 - this is the sum of the math and reading portions of the SAT (the 1600 scale). To be a competitive applicant for Adelphi University your SAT score should come close to the average. If you’re closer to the 1010, you’re likely going to have a tougher time getting accepted.
The 25th percentile SAT score is 1120, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1330. In other words, a 1120 places you below average, while a 1330 will move you up to above average.
Adelphi practices "superscoring." This means that you can choose which SAT tests you want to send to the school. Even though the highest total you scored on any one test date was 1000, Adelphi will take your highest section score from all your test dates, then combine them to form your Superscore. Because you can choose which tests to send in, and Adelphi forms your Superscore, you can take the SAT as many times as you want, then submit only the tests that give you the highest Superscore. Therefore, if your SAT superscore is currently below a 1223, it is recommended that you consider prepping for the SAT and retaking it. Because of the Superscore, you can focus all your energy on a single section at a time. If your Reading score is lower than your other sections, prep only for the Reading section, then take the SAT. Then focus on Math for the next test, and so on.
ACT Scores
Adelphi University’s average ACT score is 73. To be a competitive applicant for Adelphi University your ACT score should come close to the average. If you’re closer to the 65, you’re likely going to have a tougher time getting accepted. The average ACT score at Adelphi is 28. The 25th percentile ACT score is 24, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 30. To try to aim for the school's ACT requirement of 28 and above, you should try to take the ACT as many times as you can.
When you send ACT scores to colleges, you have absolute control over which tests you send. You could take 10 tests, and only send your highest one. By and large, most colleges do not superscore the ACT.

Official or unofficial college transcript(s): If you choose to enroll, we’ll eventually need your official transcripts - but for now, feel free to send along your unofficial copies for an expedited admissions decision.

Apply Before the Deadline. Too many students wait until the last minute to submit their application, and too much can go wrong during this precious time window. Since many students are applying on the last day, it’s possible that Adelphi University’s own system crashes.

Additional Information for Specific Programs and Students
International Students
International students seeking admission at Adelphi University will have to fulfill specific admission requirements. International Students whose native language is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
Nursing Program Applicants
Students are allowed a maximum of three attempts in total for the ATI TEAS exam, with two attempts per admission cycle. There must be at least 45 days between the first and second attempts. If the second attempt is taken before the 45-day gap, it will still count as an attempt but will not be considered. Students who meet the requirements listed above but have a cumulative GPA below 3.5 may be considered for the waitlist. Any prior grades in nursing courses will be taken into consideration. Students who receive below a C+ in one required prerequisite course within the past eight years may repeat that course one time. Students who have previously been dismissed from another nursing program will not be eligible.
Military Personnel
G.I. Bill benefits are also available and military personnel can benefit from the Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP), which allows soon-to-enlist or currently enlisted military personnel to enroll in and complete college courses while they continue their service commitments.
