The college's construction commenced on 12 February 1988, with a total land area of 0.1932 acres (0.0782 ha). The foundation stone was laid by L. K. Siddiqi, then a Member of Parliament and later part of the Ministry of Water Resources. M.A. Mannan, the present Minister of Planning of Bangladesh, graced the master ceremony as the chief guest. The college was founded by a group of local enthusiastic and enterprising individuals, with S.A. Bari at the helm.
