A Gift of Remembrance

Yousuf Al-Marzook Field was made possible through the generosity of Faisal Al-Marzook, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences in 1967. At the time of the dedication, the donation was the largest single alumni contribution ever received by the University. The field was dedicated to the memory of Faisal's father, Yousuf Al-Marzook.

Memorable Moments

In 2024, Al-Marzook Field hosted the Conference of New England Women's Soccer Championship game where the Hawks won their first conference title in the CNE defeating Gordon College 6-0. The Hartford Hawks: Transition to Division III

The Hartford Hawks are the NCAA Division III athletic teams of the University of Hartford, located in West Hartford, Connecticut. On May 6, 2021, the University of Hartford Board of Regents voted to drop its athletic department to Division III. This plan started with the university's formal application to the NCAA for reclassification in January 2022. Starting in 2022-23, Hartford would no longer award athletic scholarships to incoming students and begin playing as a Division I independent.

Despite the transition to Division III, the University of Hartford maintains a strong commitment to academic excellence among its student-athletes. In 2012-13, 43 percent of Hawk student-athletes notched at least a 3.5 GPA, while five percent registered perfect 4.0 GPAs. The University of Hartford clinched its second-straight America East Academic Cup in 2012-13 after posting the highest grade-point average of any school in the 18-year history of the award.

The current version of Howie the Hawk began its tenure during the winter of 2008-09. The nickname originated in the late 1940s when the school competed as Hillyer College.
