Navigating the American River College Bookstore: A Comprehensive Guide

American River College (ARC) provides a multitude of resources and support services designed to facilitate students' academic journeys. Student support services and academics are intertwined at ARC. This article aims to provide a detailed overview of the American River College bookstore, including its services, resources, and financial aid options available to students.

Accessing Course Materials and Products

Follett offers various flexible solutions that enable students and college departments to obtain course materials and other products from the online and on-campus bookstores. These instructions do not apply to students setting up individual accounts with Follett.

Financial Aid Options for Bookstore Purchases

ARC understands that affording textbooks and supplies can be a challenge for students. The bookstore offers a line of credit program to address this issue.

District/College-Managed Financial Aid

If your department/program will be providing financial aid for students to use individually at the bookstore(s), then see the district/college-managed financial aid guidelines. Common examples of district- or college-managed financial aid include EOPS, CalWORKs, Promise Program, and Los Rios Colleges Foundation textbook scholarships.

External Agencies or Third Parties

The following instructions are for external agencies or third parties that are not part of Los Rios. Please select Government or Other Third Party (whatever is most appropriate for your particular entity) as Account Type for the Credit Account Agreement. Common examples include VA, Voc Rehab, Dual Enrollment, or Other Sponsoring Agencies/Businesses.

Bookstore Line of Credit

Students who meet the requirements automatically receive the bookstore line of credit. Do you want to buy your books and supplies before the semester begins, but are low on funds until you receive your first financial aid disbursement? You may qualify for a bookstore line of credit! The bookstore line of credit program allows students who meet the following requirements to use up to $750 of their financial aid at the Los Rios bookstore.

To use your line of credit in the store, let the cashier know that you would like to use your financial aid line of credit to pay for your course materials. The Los Rios Single-Sign-On box will open. If you have other financial aid sources available (for example, an EOPS Book Voucher or textbook scholarship), then we recommend using those sources first and using the financial aid bookstore line of credit last to pay any remaining balance.
