Currently serving as the Dean of the Communication Pathway and Academic Dean for the South Campus, Dr. Reid plays a vital role in shaping the academic landscape of Broward College. Dr. Reid's commitment to Broward College spans 19 years, during which she has actively participated in and led numerous student and faculty success initiatives. Recognition at the Osprey Awards
Dr. Reid's contributions to Broward College were celebrated at "The 6th Annual Ospreys" staff awards ceremony. The AHCD team attended the event, where the college recognized the accomplishments and milestones of its faculty and staff over the past year. The awards, held at Bailey Hall, recognized over 500 employees in categories such as years of service, professors of the year, years of giving, compassionate leadership, and endowed teaching chair. The theme of the event, "The Adventure Continues," highlighted the diverse cultures represented by the college's faculty and staff. The event showcased the superheroes within the Broward College community, emphasizing the united team of individuals dedicated to making a difference and fulfilling the college’s mission.
Fostering Community and Addressing Student Needs
Dr. Reid's commitment extends beyond academic leadership to encompass initiatives that directly support students' well-being. She is the co-chair for the Food & Essentials Board, addressing food insecurity among students and employees. Her efforts are particularly notable in organizing monthly food drives at the Judson A. Samuels South Campus in Pembroke Pines, providing crucial assistance to the Broward College family, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"LifeNet4Families has been a partner and one of the very first contributors of our monthly food drives, donating food bags for our students and employees each month,” says Dr. Reid. “Their help has been crucial in helping the Broward College family throughout the COVID-19 pandemic."
These food drives offer not only food bags but also pet food, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of the college community.
Celebrating Diversity and Promoting Awareness
Dr. Reid is actively involved in initiatives that celebrate diversity and promote awareness of important social and cultural issues. She co-chaired the committee that created the programming for Black History Month (BHM), working alongside Williams Liner and other faculty and staff members.
The events, which take place throughout February, explore a wide range of topics, from art and culture to social justice and history. The focus on the Black family provides an opportunity to break down stereotypes and highlight the significance and influence of the family unit on Black culture.
"This year's theme is an excellent opportunity to break down stereotypes associated with Black families," says Dr. Reid.

The events feature guest speakers such as artists Najja Moon and Domonique Venzant, who share their personal experiences, challenges, and the impact of family on their lives. Chef Rock Harper explores Soul Food while sharing stories from the past.
"We are giving a voice to so many members of our community from Black women in Science, to artists, to activists, that speak to their experiences and challenges personally and professionally, and the influence family has played in them,” says Dr. Reid.
Dr. Reid is also enthusiastic about events such as the Virtual Reading of Hair Love, recognizing its relatability to students and its celebration of diversity.
Supporting MLK Day of Service
Dr. Reid is also deeply involved in Broward College's recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy. Broward College supports projects and encourages volunteerism among its students and employees. Between 2015 and 2020, the College awarded approximately $850,000 in grants to over 200 community organizations and nonprofits across Broward County for projects undertaken as part of the MLK Day of Service.

Dr. Barbara J. has been newly appointed President Dr. Barbara J. and is helping to guide the college into the future. Jose Lopez (associate vice president, Academic Affairs) and Heather Rousseau (adjunct professor, Fine Arts) explored the myriad cultures embraced and represented by the College’s faculty and staff while highlighting their accomplishments and milestones over the past year. Rhonda L. Bobb, Ed.D., English professor at the College, assisted in creating programming for this year’s BHM.
