Machine Trades Programs

Anoka Tech's Machine Trades programs offer flexibility for students with part-time options available.

Part-Time Program Structure

Students can choose to complete the Machine Trade programs part-time. Part-time students will take longer to complete their program than students who follow the full-time sequence listed. Because every course may not be offered each semester with both day and evening options, it is important for part-time students to reach out to their faculty advisors for help in planning their long-term, part-time course sequence.

First Semester Options for New Machine Trades Students

Below, new machine trades students can find first semester part-time course options. After the first semester, work with your faculty advisors to plan future semesters.

Math Requirements

In each option, you will see a choice of MACH 1171 Math for Machinists or MATH 1650 College Trigonometry.

Diploma Students: MACH 1171 Math for Machinists requires an Arithmetic ACCUPLACER score of 265. Students who do not meet any of the prerequisites must take the developmental course MATH 0801 Basic Math in their first semester and then MACH 1171 in their second semester. Diploma students are required to take MACH 1171.
AAS Degree Students: MATH 1650 College Trigonometry requires an Advanced Algebra Functions ACCUPLACER score of 250. AAS degree students are required to take MATH 1650.

Returning Students

For those who previously attended Anoka Tech and wish to resume their education, the college welcomes them back.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are students who have taken courses at other colleges or universities and are planning on receiving credit for those courses at Anoka Tech. Submit official transcripts from all previous colleges attended. Official transcript(s) from non-Minnesota State college(s) sent directly to the Records Office. Hard copy official transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope with the seal intact. Please allow 1-2 weeks for your transcript evaluation to be completed after you have been admitted to your program major. Transcripts will be evaluated to determine the need for Accuplacer course placement testing. Students who are required to test are strongly encouraged to review prior to testing. The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) is the format in which general education is accomplished within the public two- and four-year colleges and universities in Minnesota.

Application Steps

Students who are applying to Anoka Tech’s PSEO program for the first time will need to complete the following steps:

Apply Online
Complete Orientation
Attend a Registration meeting with the PSEO Coordinator.

All returning students must turn in a Notice of Student Registration (NOSR) form each semester they intend to take classes.

If you are moving from a certificate program to a diploma program, testing or an updated transcript may be needed.

NOTE: All application materials must be submitted by the deadline in order to be considered for admission.

PSEO Funding

PSEO students are able to take classes at more than one Minnesota State institution. Anoka Technical College requires that students follow all application guidelines in order for PSEO funds to be used to take classes with us. Failure to apply, submit high school transcripts and Notice of Student Registration to Anoka Technical College by the PSEO deadlines may result in being dropped from the class or an out-of-pocket tuition balance that would be the student's responsibility.

Public School Students

Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.09, subdivision 7, requires public school students to inform the district by May 30 of each year of the pupil’s intent to enroll in postsecondary courses during the following school year to assist the district in planning. A pupil is bound by notifying or not notifying the district by May 30.

Student Eligibility

The student must have received a passing score (proficiency level of “meets or exceeds”) on the 8th-grade Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) in reading, or if the student did not take the 8th-grade MCA, another reading assessment can be substituted if accepted by the enrolling postsecondary institution.

Participation Limits

A 10th-grade student may enroll in one Career Technical Education (CTE) course during their first semester.

Semester 1: Limited to ONE Career and Technical Education (CTE) class the first semester.
Semester 2: Must pass the first semester CTE course with a "C" or higher grade.

Summer Courses

Courses during summer session are not available to PSEO students using PSEO funds.

Program Restrictions

Programs requiring special admission. Programs that develop a waitlist. This currently includes Construction Electrician. PSEO students can do general education courses leading up to program admission. Full-Time only programs are not restricted, but students need to be able to attend all classes listed in each semester on the program guide. These classes are only offered on campus, in-person, and are usually between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Additionally, tools are not covered under PSEO funds.

Visiting Students

Visiting students must follow all Anoka Tech policies, procedures and deadlines. Visiting students who register for classes at Anoka Tech will owe tuition at Anoka Tech. They may also be required to use additional Anoka Tech issued accounts depending on registered courses.

Veterans

Once the VA has approved your application, they will issue a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Statement of Benefits to you. Once the SCO has received your documentation and you have registered for classes, your enrollment will be certified with the VA. For additional information.

International Students

Anoka Tech is not accepting international students at this time.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Individuals who want to take less than 9 credits worth of classes but are not planning to complete a certificate, diploma, or degree are classified as Non-Degree Seeking Students. Non-Degree Seeking Students are not eligible for financial aid.
