Arcadia Education Foundation: Empowering Students and Enriching Education
The Arcadia Education Foundation (AEF) stands as a pillar of support for the Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD). Founded in 1981, this non-profit organization is dedicated to enriching educational programs and empowering students within the AUSD. Through impactful fundraising, AEF enhances the quality of teaching, resources, and programs available to students.
The Genesis of AEF: Addressing Funding Shortfalls
AEF was founded in 1981 in response to substantially reduced federal and state funding for California public schools. Recognizing the critical need for supplemental resources, a group of concerned parents and community members came together to establish a foundation dedicated to supporting the AUSD. This proactive approach ensured that students in Arcadia would continue to receive a high-quality education despite the challenging financial climate.
In 1988, the Arcadia Education Foundation was established as an independent board, affiliate of the School District of Arcadia, and non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. The State Bank of Arcadia generously donated $1,000 to start the foundation and it continues to be built entirely by community and business supporters of education in Arcadia. In 1988, the founding four board members, Henry (Hank) Schultz, Ken Sonsolla, Glen Bawek, and Kevin Manley had a dream of being able to support the School District of Arcadia without impacting their state aid. These four members along with the community grew the foundation one event and donation at a time.

- You & Me Grant: In 2021, the You & Me Grant was born through a generous $100,000 donation. This contribution allowed AEF to establish a grant fund to promote learning and community service for students. All AUSD students or student clubs are eligible to apply.
- Communication System Funding: AEF also funds the district-wide phone and text communication system so school officials can efficiently communicate with parents. This ensures that parents are informed about important school events, emergencies, and other relevant information.
