Understanding Arizona State University Transcripts: A Comprehensive Guide
An Arizona State University (ASU) transcript is a comprehensive record of a student's academic history at the university. It serves as an official document for various purposes, including employment, graduate school applications, and transferring credits to other institutions. This article provides a detailed overview of ASU transcripts, covering both official and unofficial versions, how to obtain them, associated costs, and other relevant information.
Official Transcripts: The Certified Academic Record
An official transcript is a certified copy of a student's permanent academic record, issued directly by the University Registrar. It is considered an official document because it bears the ASU seal and includes a print date, ensuring its authenticity. The official transcript displays all courses taken for credit at ASU, along with the grades received for each course.
Ordering Official Transcripts
The easiest and most efficient way to order an official transcript is through Parchment's online request system. This system allows students and alumni to request both traditional paper transcripts and electronic transcripts.
- Electronic Delivery: Official electronic transcripts can only be ordered through Parchment.
- Paper Transcripts: Although Parchment is the preferred method, mail-in requests are possible.
For mail-in requests, payments should be made via check or money order payable to Arizona State University and sent to:

Official Transcript Costs
Each official transcript copy costs $15.00. Starting January 6th, 2025, sales tax will be collected in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. This change may affect the total cost of your request based on factors such as document type, delivery method, and location.
Authorizing a Third Party to Pick Up
Yes, someone else may order or pick up your official transcript as long as you give written and signed authorization to do so.
Unofficial Transcripts: An Overview
An unofficial transcript is an uncertified copy of a student's academic record. While it contains similar information to an official transcript-courses taken at ASU and grades received-it also includes additional details such as note records regarding Dean’s List achievement, grade changes, semester GPAs, and probation/disqualification status.
Accessing and Ordering Unofficial Transcripts
ASU offers multiple ways to access unofficial transcripts:
- Online for Current and Former Students with ASURITE ID: Students and former students with an ASURITE ID can sign in to view and print an unofficial transcript online. It may be necessary to temporarily disable pop-up blockers to retrieve the transcript successfully.
- Students Attending After 1980 (Without ASURITE ID): Individuals who attended after 1980 but do not have or do not know their ASURITE ID and password can request an ASURITE ID by contacting the ASU Help Desk at 855-278-5080 to access unofficial transcripts online.
- Students Attending Prior to 1980: ASU does not offer online transcript services for students who attended prior to 1980. Requests for unofficial transcripts should be sent to:

MMR Immunization Requirement
All students born after January 1, 1957, are required to meet the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization requirement before class registration. Students have two options for completing this requirement, explained on the ASU Health Services website. The MMR vaccine is available for a fee at any of ASU's Health Services locations.
Transcripts and Financial Obligations
You may obtain unofficial and official transcripts even if you have past due financial obligations to the university. However, graduates with a delinquent financial obligation of $25 or more will not receive a diploma until their account is paid.
Name Change Documentation
All requests require two different forms of documentation, one of which must be picture identification (state/government issued photo ID or ASU Sun Card) and one of the following: marriage license/certificate, adoption papers, court order, divorce decree, social security card or passport/permanent visa. The link to the DocuSign form and paper form can be found at /forms/name-change.
Transfer Credit
No. Credit is awarded for traditional course work successfully completed at institutions of higher learning as indicated by ASU and the Arizona Board of Regents.
