These efforts aim to deliver exceptional customer service experiences, improve content knowledge and ambassadorship of the School, and facilitate personal growth and connection within the alumni and donor community.
  • Volunteer Engagement: The Director envisions and implements plans for alumni and annual fund volunteer management, including recruiting, developing, and stewarding volunteer leaders. This involves overseeing existing and new volunteer communities, designing programs for volunteer development and retention, and identifying and marketing volunteer opportunities to alumni.
  • Alumni Leadership: The role involves identifying and cultivating alumni volunteer and philanthropic leaders within the community. The Director works closely with the Assistant Dean to recommend alumni leaders for key roles in philanthropic, engagement, and stewardship activities.

Compensation and Benefits

The budgeted salary range for this position is $88,900 to $126,400 yearly ($7,408.33 to $10,533.33 monthly). It is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits. This position is FLSA Exempt and paid monthly.

The School of Information (I School) advances knowledge and practice where humans interact with digital technologies. Through interdisciplinary research and teaching, it expands access to information and improves its usability, reliability, and credibility while preserving security and privacy. The I School offers three professional master’s degrees and an academic doctoral degree, including the Master of Information Management and Systems (MIMS), the Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS), and the Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS).

The Associate Director, New York Region, University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR)

The Associate Director, New York Region, is a fundraising position within University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR). This role focuses on major gift and principal-level fundraising from alumni, parents, and friends on the East Coast, particularly in the tri-state area, on behalf of the entire UC Berkeley campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management: Develops and manages a portfolio of around 120 University prospects to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and current donors. These prospects may include alumni, parents, friends, and corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Fundraising Strategies: Plans, organizes, and directs large-scale fundraising plans that include multiple campus and alumni stakeholders. Writes proposals for the solicitation of individual, corporate, and/or foundation prospects.
  • Campus Leadership Support: Helps manage and directly staff campus leadership travel, including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans, and Faculty. May serve as an expert or lead development professional in a specific academic discipline on behalf of campus units.
  • Goal Achievement and Program Evaluation: Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met and implements program activities to achieve these goals, with a minimum of $1M raised annually. Evaluates programs using data analyses and regional expertise, including planning and evaluating solicitation programs and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Recruits key volunteers who assist in advancement efforts.
  • Staff Oversight: May oversee the work of professional and support staff involved in the implementation of multi-component fundraising programs.
  • Representation: May attend functions, meetings, and serve on internal/external committees as a representative of the location.

Compensation and Benefits

The budgeted salary range for this position is $123,000 - $137,000, commensurate with experience. This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR)

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) increases support for and enhances knowledge of UC Berkeley through communications, public outreach, and fundraising. UDAR is responsible for fundraising and donor engagement and works to strengthen unit development offices by consulting and partnering with campus fundraisers. The Major Gifts team within UDAR focuses on securing philanthropic support among University alumni, parents, and friends across a range of geographical regions, with a focus on gifts in the $100,000 - $5 million range.

Common Requirements
