Associated Students at UC San Diego: An Overview

The Associated Students (AS) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) serves as the recognized undergraduate student government. AS invites students to learn more about its leadership, programs, and services dedicated to enhancing the student experience at UCSD. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the ASUCSD is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services, and auxiliaries. The vision of the ASUCSD Council is to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. It aims to represent a diverse but unified voice, provide support for those within the community, and focus on the issues that directly affect the people with whom they have the responsibility to serve.

Leadership Structure

The leadership structure for ASUCSD includes the Executive Branch (Cabinet), the Senate, and the Judicial Board and is responsible for exercising the rights and responsibilities of students to participate in the governance of the University; to manage, invest and maintain the assets of the Association; to create and execute programs.

Executive Branch (Cabinet)

The ASUCSD cabinet is comprised of the executive officers and associate vice presidents.

The Senate

The ASUCSD Senate is made up of elected and appointed student leadership from various constituencies across UCSD.

Judicial Board

Key Responsibilities

As a student government, the issues and topics documented in the collection represent the wider activities, interests, and concerns of the undergraduate student body during this time period. Of particular note is the meeting, election, and event materials.

The ASUCSD is responsible for exercising the rights and responsibilities of students to participate in the governance of the University. ASUCSD facilitates student participation in the University governance by fostering interactions with students, the administration, and the wider San Diego community.

A.S. Fellowship Program

The A.S. Fellowship aims to help incoming first-year and first-year transfer students cultivate their leadership, professional, and interpersonal skills by participating in campus-wide advocacy and service-oriented efforts. Individuals who engage in this program will gain a comprehensive understanding of the functionality of the A.S.
