Understanding Assumption High School Tuition Costs and Financial Aid Options

Selecting a Catholic school education represents a significant investment in a child's future. Assumption High School endeavors to make this investment accessible to families who desire a Catholic education for their children. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of the tuition costs associated with Assumption High School, payment policies, and available financial aid opportunities.

Tuition and Payment Options

The foundation of Assumption High School's financial stability lies in tuition payments, which directly support the academic programs offered. Parents bear the responsibility for ensuring timely tuition payments, as failure to do so can jeopardize the school's financial health.

Assumption High School offers several tuition payment options to accommodate different family needs:

OPTION 1 - SINGLE PAYMENT PLAN - $17,500: A single payment of $17,500 is due July 15, 2025. Payments can be made through Tuition Management with a credit/debit card or automatic draft or a check sent directly to Assumption High School. A 1% late fee will be assessed on balances not paid by due date. Seniors will incur an additional $275 graduation fee and sophomores will incur an additional $75 ACTS fee.

OPTION 2 - QUARTERLY PLAN - $17,650: Parents can choose to pay in four equal installments of $4,412.50 due in July, October, January, and April. Payments are made through Tuition Management only. Payments can be made on either the 5th or 20th of the month. Seniors will incur an additional $275 graduation fee and sophomores will incur an additional $75 ACTS fee.

OPTION 3 - 10-MONTH PLAN - $17,800: Parents may opt for a 10-month plan with monthly payments of $1,780 due July 2025 through April 2026. Payments are made through Tuition Management only. Payments can be made on either the 5th or 20th of the month. Seniors will incur an additional $275 graduation fee and sophomores will incur an additional $75 ACTS fee.

Important Considerations Regarding Payments:

  • Late Fees: Late fees are charged at 30, 60, and 90 days for tuition that is past due.
  • FACTS SIS Access: At 60 days past due, access to the student information system (FACTS SIS) will be unavailable for grades and assignments.
  • Class Attendance: At 90 days past due, students may not be allowed to return to class until the tuition account is current.
  • Graduation and Enrollment: No 8th-grade student may graduate with an outstanding tuition or fee balance. No family may return to the school if payments for the previous school year, including all fees and ECP invoices, have not been paid in full by July 1. No student’s name will be added to a class list in August if a FACTS Agreement with a payment plan has not been established by July 15.
  • Right to Refuse Admittance: The school reserves the right to refuse class admittance to any student whose account is delinquent more than sixty (60) days. A returning student’s account must be current two (2) weeks prior to the student’s last day of school of the current school year.

Financial Assistance Opportunities

Recognizing that families have varying financial circumstances, Assumption High School offers financial assistance to help make Catholic education more accessible. Financial assistance at Assumption comes from a variety of sources including our Annual Fund for Assumption, Rocket Spectacular Benefit Dinner & Auction, and the Walk for Assumption. We are able to keep tuition affordable by offering financial assistance based on an individual family’s circumstances. The following are available by an application process.

Tuition Assistance (Assumption Catholic School): This ranges from $900 to $2400 per child, based on need.

Tuition Assistance and Faith Community Scholarships: These are offered by Whatcom Catholic parishes and any faith community who wishes to participate. Each community sets its own standards, but most require participation in the life of the parish, including weekend attendance and regular giving of time and tithe. Tuition Assistance and Faith Community Scholarship awards will be communicated by the school office by early April 2026. Currently enrolled families. Registered and contributing parishioners of Church of the Assumption, Sacred Heart Church, St. Joseph, St. Anne, St. Peter, and St.

FACTS Grant & Aid: Families anticipating the need for additional financial assistance are encouraged to apply for Facts Grant & Aid, application provided through FACTS (Financial Administration Community Training & Solutions) Management Company.

Financial Aid Application Process:

  1. FACTS Application: Families wishing to apply for financial aid must do so by the January 15, 2026 deadline. The form is available online and can be accessed here.
  2. Registration: In order for families to be considered for financial aid, they must complete the FACTS application and registration process including payment of the $225 registration fee. This registration fee is paid through Blackbaud Tuition Management and will require a $56 administration fee that goes directly to Blackbaud when the account is set up.
  3. Application Fee: The online application and a fee of $35 must be submitted to FACTS by January 15, 2026.
  4. Registration Requirement: Students must be registered at Assumption and have paid the registration fee in order for a financial assistance application to be considered.
  5. Supporting Documents: Please include your 2024 federal income tax return and W-2 forms with the application.
  6. Late Applications: Financial Assistance funds are limited. Late applications are held and will only be considered after all applications filed on time (January 15, 2026) have received awards.

Financial Aid Considerations:

Assumption works diligently to meet the financial needs of our families and reviews each financial aid application individually considering not only the FACTS demonstrated need assessment but also any specific circumstances before making an award. Special consideration is given to families demonstrating full need.

Active Catholic Status and Tuition Rate

To be considered an Active Catholic and be charged the corresponding tuition rate, a Parish Verification Form signed by the pastor must be on file with the school business office by the last business day of April annually. Forms must be submitted to the parish; the parish will certify the family status and return the signed form to the school office. One should allow at least two weeks for the parish of record to process the form and return to the school.

Additional Costs

Beyond tuition, families should also budget for additional costs, such as:

  • Books and Supplies: $1,000 per year
  • Personal Expenses: $1,000 per year
  • Transportation: $800 per year
  • A $600 non-refundable tuition deposit is required within ten days of acceptance.
  • Seniors will incur an additional $275 graduation fee and sophomores will incur an additional $75 ACTS fee.

Understanding Net Price

The net price represents the actual cost a student pays to attend a particular college, after accounting for grants and scholarships. It is calculated by subtracting the total amount of grants and scholarships a student receives from the college's cost of attendance. The net price is specific to each student's individual circumstances and the college's financial aid policies. To get the most accurate estimate of your net price, it is recommended to use the college's Net Price calculator.
