Atlantic Technical College Programs: A Comprehensive Overview
Atlantic Technical College and Technical High School (ATC) stands as a public, technical high school committed to providing a robust academic education alongside technical instruction, equipping students for success in emerging careers. Operating under the authority of the School Board of Broward County, Florida, and the Florida Department of Education, ATC offers a wide array of programs designed to meet the evolving needs of business, industry, and the community.
A Hub for Career and Technical Education
ATC distinguishes itself as an innovative career and technical education facility, extending opportunities to both adults and select secondary students within Broward County, Florida. The institution's emphasis lies in the development and implementation of high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand occupational programs.
Historical Context
Originally established in 1973 as Atlantic Vocational Center, the institution initially served 450 adult students with 11 programs of instruction. Over the years, ATC has undergone several construction phases to accommodate its expanding program offerings, community growth, and the evolving demands of the labor market. The name was changed to Atlantic Technical College since 2014. Today, more than 8,000 students attend classes offered during the day, night, and Saturday mornings.
In August 2002, Atlantic Technical College expanded its reach by adding its own magnet high school, starting with an initial class of 150 students. Subsequently, 150 students were added each year, culminating in a total enrollment of 600 students. The high school's first graduating class was in 2006.

ATC offers over 35 challenging instructional programs in high wage/high skill/high demand occupations, a full complement of apprenticeship programs in different trades, adult academic programs for individuals looking to pursue their high school diplomas and/or improve English language skills and much more.

Students at ATC can choose from 26 technical programs of study, spanning seven Career Clusters:

All career and technical programs are aligned with state and national standards.
Personalized Guidance
Students benefit from individualized attention, meeting with certified school counselors to discuss their future goals. These goals then inform the crafting of each student’s academic program. Furthermore, a Career Technical Education (CTE) advisor provides guidance in selecting the appropriate technical program.
Admissions and Enrollment
Atlantic Technical College and Technical High School (ATC) accepts applications on a non-discriminatory basis from anyone having the interest in an occupational training program. ATC admits as postsecondary (adult) students, those individuals who have completed their secondary school education, or who are 16 years of age or older and have officially withdrawn from high school. Secondary (high school) Career Dual Enrollment students apply through their high school guidance department. Prior year's school testing to include PM 3 of FAST Reading and Math if taken within the state of Florida.
As of the 2021-22 school year, the total student enrollment was 678. The ethnic makeup of the school was 37.2% White, 52.7% Black, 26.7% Hispanic, 3.7% Asian, 0.6% Pacific Islander, 4.7% Multiracial, and 1.2% Native American or Native Alaskan.

Distance Education

Costs and Further Education
The total estimated full time costs of $3,538.00 consists of $2,938.00 for Tuition, $600.00 for Books and Supplies, and $0.00 for Housing.
Upon completion of a technical program and meeting eligibility requirements, including the attainment of an aligned industry credential, students may be awarded credits toward an Associate Degree by Broward College or the Florida College System. Students must enroll in Broward College or a Florida State Community College within two (2) years of completing the program at Atlantic Technical College.
Recognition
ATC has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for "America's Best High Schools" for three consecutive years.
