Road to Glory

EA Sports has revealed a deep dive into the Road to Glory (RTG) mode, showcasing it as one of the most comprehensive first-person modes in sports gaming history. Players begin by choosing their path, broken down into four options:

  • Elite: A 5-star recruit with a 79 OVR rating.
  • Blue Chip: A 4-star recruit with a 75 OVR rating.
  • Contributor: A 3-star recruit who must work to earn playing time.
  • Underdog: A 2-star recruit with a 60 OVR rating.

Players can choose to play as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker, or cornerback. No linemen or special teams positions are available in RTG. After selecting a position, players will choose their archetype, which determines their starting attributes and potential abilities.

The mode also incorporates mental abilities, such as:

  • Fan Favorite: Increases composure during home games and is tied to academics (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
  • Road Dog: Increases composure during road games and is tied to brand deals.
  • Clearheaded: Limits the loss of composure after mistakes and is tied to leadership qualities.

Academics play a crucial role, with weekly activity points needed for pop quizzes and midterm exams. Players with GPAs below 2.0 become ineligible. Time management is critical, balancing academics with practice, which includes team minigames for leadership and skill minigames for individual improvement.

NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals are also featured, offering bonuses that can improve a player both on and off the field. Players can also enter the transfer portal if they are dissatisfied with their current team.

Ultimate Team

College Football Ultimate Team allows players to build their dream team using current college players and legends from the past, even active NFL players. Players start with a beginner team and can improve their squad by completing "Challenges," which are scenarios that require specific on-field objectives. Over 100 Challenges will be available at launch, with more added throughout the year.

Completing "Objectives" also earns XP for the Field Pass, which unlocks Player Packs and Coins. Coins can be used in the Marketplace to acquire packs or in the Auction House to buy individual players.

Team Building

Team building in Ultimate Team involves setting a lineup and utilizing Chemistry. Chemistry is achieved by placing players with matching Chemistries in the lineup, boosting their attributes. Scheme and Team Chemistries play a crucial role. Playbooks also complement the type of players on the team, with options for run-heavy or pass-heavy styles.

Players can also unlock Team Chem buckets on Player Items, allowing them to replace the current Team Chem with one of their choosing from all 134 teams.

Player Items and Abilities

Player Items highlight key attributes based on the player's archetype and position. Players can flip the Player Item to see equipped Abilities, which can be unlocked and equipped using Training points. These Abilities enhance player performance on the field.

  • Solo Seasons: Play a season format against AI opponents.
  • H2H Seasons: Play through a season online against other players.
  • Squads Regular Season: Team up with friends, with each player taking on a specific role.
  • The Gauntlet: A weekly online challenge with high stakes.

House Rules will also be available, featuring unique twists to the traditional football rule set.
