Babson Education Abroad: A World of Opportunities

In today's interconnected world, a global mindset is indispensable for successful entrepreneurial leadership. Babson College recognizes this need and offers a plethora of education abroad programs designed to equip students with the skills to navigate diverse cultural experiences. These programs provide transformative opportunities for personal and professional growth, enabling students to broaden their horizons and develop a global perspective.

Why Study Abroad?

Studying abroad offers numerous benefits. It gets students out of their comfort zone, exposing them to new experiences and challenges that foster growth. It provides them with the skills to navigate across different cultural experiences. It’s about cultural exchange, and becoming an international student.

Diverse Program Options

Babson provides a wide array of options to fit various schedules and academic needs. Most students opt for a semester abroad, but summer, year-round, and shorter options are also available.

  • Semester and Year-Long Programs: Immerse yourself in a new culture for an extended period, gaining a deeper understanding of the local customs, business practices, and way of life.
  • Summer Programs: A shorter, more focused experience that allows you to explore a specific region or topic during the summer break.
  • Short-Term Programs: These include Electives Abroad during semester breaks and service immersion trips during winter and spring breaks, offering a taste of international exposure without a long-term commitment.

With over 40 countries to choose from, students can find a program that aligns with their specific interests. Whether it's discovering the culture of Vienna, learning about management in Singapore, studying at the renowned London School of Economics, or taking a class on K-Pop in Seoul, the possibilities are endless.

Program Highlights

  • International Consulting Experience: Hone your consulting skills on an international consulting project through this elective course.
  • Electives Abroad: Earn credits while traveling and getting to know a new country and group of classmates in between regular classes. These courses focus on Entrepreneurship, Political Impact on Culture, Brand Management, Creativity and Collaboration, Social Responsibility, and Start Up/International Strategy, often tailored to the culture of the host country.
  • Service Immersion Trips: Participate in service projects during college breaks, making a tangible difference in communities around the world.
  • Glavin Global Fellows (GGF) Program: For students seeking to deepen their global education on campus, the GGF program offers a focused course of independent study, fostering a community passionate about global issues, language study, and international experiences. Education Abroad Roadmap

The Education Abroad Roadmap guides students through the process of researching programs and identifying the best fit.

  1. Research: Explore various programs and gather information. As you begin to research education abroad programs and confirm that you are eligible with your GPA and class standing, we encourage you to consider various methods and sources of information.
  2. Application: Once you have identified a program that best fits your goals and interests, you can open an application. Open an education abroad application for the program you choose. External program deadlines may vary. Some external programs may have a deadline that falls before the Babson deadline. For exchange programs, check the program brochure and/or contact your advisor to confirm.
  3. Support During Your Term Abroad: The Babson Education Abroad team and the Babson community are here to support you.
  4. Post-Program Reflection: Upon completion of your term abroad, you will have the opportunity to “unpack” your experience and consider how you will carry it forward, personally and professionally.

Application Deadlines

Submitting an application by the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th) will provide you with an earlier decision from Babson. Some programs (see “Apply” page on program brochures) may only be available during the Priority application phase and may not be available during the Final application phase. Applications submitted by the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th) will be considered in the priority round of application review. Any applications submitted after the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th), but before the final deadline (September 15th or February 15th), will be considered in the final round of application review. Some programs are only available for application in the priority round - please check our program availability list for reference, and this will be updated as spots are filled in each round.

Second Choice Program

Yes, the question about a second choice program is a required question in the application. Applications for a certain program will be considered regardless of what second choice is listed; students will only be considered for their second choice program if they are not approved for their first choice.

Disciplinary History

Additionally, the Office of Community Standards will review your disciplinary history during the application phase and again immediately prior to departure. Any relevant information is shared with our office. Certain disciplinary histories may delay or prohibit you from studying abroad.

Financial Aid and Funding

Students may be able to apply their financial aid to their time abroad, helping with tuition and travel costs. The Glavin Office can provide guidance on financing your education abroad experience.
