The concurrent credit program offers students the opportunity to take courses within the familiar setting of their high school or to participate in online self-paced courses. All courses are taught by highly qualified instructors who offer excellent experiences in learning as well as guidance and support. All Baker concurrent credit courses are accredited by the same body and transfer to other institutions in the same way as traditional Baker coursework.
Concurrent Credit Benefits
The concurrent credit program offers academic and financial advantages:
- Student success in rigorous courses
- Affordable university credit
- Reduction in college expense
- Qualification for Baker scholarships
- Familiarization with heftier course loads, rigor of college, time management skills, and communication skills
- Interaction with highly qualified faculty: High school staff are master teachers, and collaborating Baker University staff hold doctoral degrees.

- Counselor’s guidance in determining readiness for college-level course work
Eligibility and Requirements
High school students in good standing at a concurrent credit partner school and who are in an approved concurrent credit class and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible to earn Baker University credit. A student’s readiness for concurrent credit courses will be determined by the quality of the student’s portfolio and by staff recommendation. Courses will vary between the school district, virtual school, and homeschool setting. Students must earn a C or higher to receive college credit.
Cost and Transferring Credits
Concurrent credit partnership students pay a reduced rate of $118 per credit hour, with a typical course equaling 3 credit hours. Some courses may be 1 or 4 hours of credit. To transfer earned college credits from Baker University to another university, students need to fill out an online transcript request form and pay the transcript fee.
Scholarship Opportunity for Concurrent Credit Students
As a concurrent credit student, students may be eligible for a scholarship when they attend Baker full time after their high school graduation. Baker offers a $64,000 scholarship over a four-year, degree-seeking enrollment period to students who earn a C or better in their concurrent credit course. The concurrent credit scholarship is not paired with an athletic or first-year or transfer merit award.

Move-In Guide and Important Dates
For students living on campus, Baker University provides a move-in guide with specific dates and procedures.
Scheduled Move-In Dates
Students moving on campus are expected to arrive on specific days, which may vary based on NAIA and academic schedules. New BU students registered for January orientation typically move in on the fourth Friday of January, after orientation. New students who are not fall athletes and are registered for August or January orientation sessions will check in for housing as part of orientation and will move in after orientation is completed.
Check-In Process
On the approved move-in day, students start at the Harter Union half-moon circle. Check-in is a drive-through process. Dearborn Street is one way, east to west, during the move-in days. Enter from Sixth Street and turn west onto Dearborn Street to enter the queue. Once checked in, students may proceed to their residence hall and begin moving into their assigned room.
Additional Move-In Information
Students on a fall sports team have specific report dates, and coaches may schedule specific times for athletic trainer meetings or other team commitments on move-in day. Students are expected during assigned move-in times and days only.
Alternate Move-In Date Requests
If an extreme need arises, students can submit an alternate move-in date request. However, approval is not guaranteed and will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Parking and Traffic
Dearborn Street is one-way, east to west, during all move-in days. A parking permit is required for vehicles staying on campus and must be ordered before arrival. Parking is available during move-in days throughout campus in any legal space, including street parking in front of Gessner and Irwin and the east side of Seventh Street.
Residence Life Policies
Students should read the Residence Life Policies in the student handbook to fully understand their rights and responsibilities while living in Baker-owned housing.

Alternate Move-In Date Information
Baker University’s residential facilities are in use throughout the summer. This busy and complex schedule of summer use makes it difficult for Residence Life and Student Affairs to accommodate move-in requests outside of the scheduled move-in dates. At times, however, it may be necessary for a student to move into his or her assigned on-campus housing before the designated move-in date. If you would like to be considered for early move-in approval, complete the online early move-in application. Requests should be based on a need to move in early, rather than a preference to move in early. Submitting an application does not guarantee early move-in approval. If your request is approved, notice will also be sent to your Residence Hall staff, IT, maintenance, summer conferences, campus security, business office, and financial aid so all may prepare accordingly for your arrival. Out of courtesy to the large number of offices involved in accommodating an early move-in request, you must arrive promptly at the date and time indicated on your official approval notice.
