Navigating the Baruch College Transcript Request Process

Baruch College offers a streamlined process for students and alumni to request official transcripts. This article provides a comprehensive guide to understanding the transcript request procedures, associated costs, and available options.

Understanding Transcripts at Baruch College

A transcript is an official record of a student's academic performance at Baruch College. It includes courses taken, grades received, and any degrees earned.

Students may request official transcripts to be sent to themselves or directly to other institutions. Unofficial student copies are readily available through CUNYfirst Student Self-Service. These unofficial transcripts can be accessed by viewing the "Unofficial Transcript" option on CUNYfirst.

Cost of a Transcript

Each copy of an official transcript costs $7.00. Payments should be made via checks or money orders payable to Baruch College.

A significant exception exists for transcripts sent from Baruch College to other institutions within the City University of New York (CUNY). These inter-CUNY transcripts are processed free of charge, aligning with the policies of the City University of New York. If your transcript is already within the CUNYfirst system, CUNY Admission/Registrar staff can access your record if needed for transfer credit evaluation and/or admission processing, further simplifying the process for CUNY students.

  3. Create a password for the Parchment system.

  5. Answer the Enrollment Information questions, check the box to confirm, and click "Continue."
  6. Select your delivery options, specifying where you want the transcripts sent. You can choose a specific place, an individual, or have it sent to yourself.

Ordering Process for Former Students/Alumni Not Using CUNYfirst

If a former student or alumni has not used CUNYfirst or is unable to order through CUNYfirst, a transcript order request can be made directly through the Parchment platform.

Important Considerations for Applications

When applying to programs at Baruch College, such as the MFE program, it's essential to understand the transcript requirements.

  • Official Transcripts are Key: For admissions purposes, Baruch College generally requires official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution. A student copy might lead to your application status being placed "ON HOLD" until the official transcript is received.
  • Transcript Request Form: The online transcript request form is primarily intended for you to provide to your college registrar's office when requesting them to send the transcript to Baruch College. Typically, official transcripts are sent directly from college to college. In rare cases where you are given the sealed envelope containing the transcript, include it with your application materials.
  • Transcripts from Other Institutions: If you have studied at other institutions for college credit, such as an exchange semester at HKUST or a summer session at UC Berkeley, you will need to request official transcripts from those institutions as well.
  • Deadlines: Pay close attention to application deadlines. It's advisable to initiate the transcript request process well in advance of the deadline to ensure timely submission.
  • Submitting Application Materials: When sending application materials, be aware that box numbers are often room numbers, not P.O. boxes.

Statement of Purpose/Essay

The online system might specify a page limit for your statement of purpose or essay. It's crucial to adhere to these guidelines. If your essay exceeds the specified limit, consider revising it to meet the requirement.
