Baylor College of Medicine MyChart: Features and How to Use It
Baylor Medicine MyChart provides patients with convenient and timely access to their medical records and allows them to handle routine healthcare needs securely. This article will guide you through the features of MyChart and how to use them effectively. MyChart is available at mychart.bcm.edu.
Accessing Baylor Medicine MyChart
To access MyChart, you need Internet access from your computer or smartphone and your login information. During your visit, you will receive instructions on how to activate your MyChart account.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
To protect the safety of your health information, Baylor Medicine MyChart requires two-factor authentication (2FA) to access your account. 2FA improves your account's security by using a secondary device, such as a text message on your phone.
When you log into MyChart, you will use your username, password, and a unique, 6-digit 2FA code. Here’s how to use 2FA:
- Login to Baylor Medicine MyChart patient portal with your username and password.
- You will be prompted to set up your 2FA if you have not already done so.
- Please enter the most recent code received.
- If you choose to receive the code via text message, open the text message on your phone and confirm that you are entering the most recent code received.
- Keep "Skip this step next time" selected (blue and checked) to remember the device you are using for 90 days.

1. Requesting Appointments
MyChart allows you to request appointments with your physician. This private, self-service system makes it easy to find available time slots and request a convenient appointment.
2. Reviewing Lab Results
You can review your lab results through MyChart, giving you quick access to important health information.
3. Messaging Your Physician's Medical Staff
MyChart enables you to message your physician’s medical staff with non-urgent questions. MyChart messages will be answered within two business days and are considered non-urgent. For any urgent concern, please phone the office directly.
4. Medication Refills
The fastest way to secure your medication refill may be through your pharmacy. Check with your preferred pharmacy to determine if you have additional refills available to you. If you require a medication refill from your provider, requests will be reviewed and responded to by the end of the next business day. Please note that certain classes of medications may require authorization from your insurance provider or have additional delays associated with them. Discuss any special requirements for refills with your provider to plan appropriately.
5. Share Everywhere
Share Everywhere is a new way for you to share your medical information with the people who are taking care of you. Using your MyChart or MyChart mobile account, you can generate a share code and provide it to the person you want to share your health data with. This might be a doctor, chiropractor, physical therapist, dentist, or school nurse, for example. Note that you must update the MyChart mobile app to version 5.4 or higher to use Share Everywhere.

To use Share Everywhere:
- Using your MyChart or MyChart mobile account, you can generate a share code
- Enter the name of the person who will be viewing your record and request the share code.
Other Important Information for Your Visit
Scheduling an Appointment
To schedule an appointment with one of our physicians, see phone numbers for clinical services or visit the specialty webpage with which you wish to make an appointment. Please have your insurance card ready when you call.
Arrival and Check-In
Please arrive on time for your appointment. This helps us provide timely care to all our patients. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to complete the registration process. When you arrive to your appointment, and have successfully completed ePreCheckin, please let our front desk staff know that you have arrived to fully complete the check-in process.
Please note, if you arrive more than 15 minutes after you appointment time, we may ask if you prefer to wait or reschedule for another day.
If You're Not Feeling Well
If patients are not feeling well, they should notify the front desk upon arrival to the clinic. If visitors are not feeling well, they should not come to the appointment in person. They can ask to join the appointment by phone. If you have COVID-19 disease or symptoms on the day of your visit, please alert the front desk upon your arrival.

Proxy Access
If you would like to designate someone to have authorized access to the MyChart portal as your proxy, please let the front desk personnel know when you arrive for your next visit. A paper form must be completed and signed before any proxy may be processed.
Parking
Self-park is available at all our locations. For valet and garage rates, please check the specific location page. NOTICE! The McNair Campus is currently undergoing construction.
Mask Policy
Patients may choose to wear a mask, or request that staff or physicians wear a mask while in the exam room. Patients and visitors with a cough or other respiratory illness, or who have COVID-19 disease, must wear a mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.
Minor Supervision
It is the parent’s responsibility to be able to appropriately supervise a minor if they are present during a visit. Minors requiring supervision must have another adult present to stay with the child in the waiting room if the visit requires privacy or a procedure is being performed.
Delays
We understand that your time is valuable, and we will make every effort to see you at your scheduled appointment time. Unfortunately, emergencies, complications and other issues might lead to unexpected delays.
Additional Services and Policies
Privacy
Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and confidentiality is something we take very seriously. All discussions will be kept between you, your physician, and your care team.
Diagnostic Services
During your appointment, your physician may order laboratory or radiology (imaging) tests such as CT scans, ultrasounds or x-rays to be performed. If you have a diagnostic service provider who you prefer to use, please discuss with your physician during your visit. If your physician has ordered laboratory or radiology (imaging) tests, you can have these completed at one of our Diagnostic Services centers.
After Visit Summary
An after-visit summary will be provided to you or made available on your MyChart account. A helpful billing representative can be reached by calling (713) 798-1900.
Phone Calls
Non-urgent calls will be returned by the end of next business day. Urgent calls will be returned on the same business day in the order they are received. After-hours calls will be handled efficiently and effectively by our answering service or an on-call physician.
Forms
Forms received by the clinical staff will be processed and returned within 10 business days.
