Bert Kreischer: From FSU's Top Partyer to Comedy Star
Bert Kreischer, born Albert Charles Kreischer Jr. on November 3, 1972, has carved a unique path in the entertainment industry. From being crowned "the top partyer at the Number One Party School in the country" by Rolling Stone magazine while attending Florida State University (FSU), to becoming a successful stand-up comedian, podcaster, reality television host, and actor, Kreischer's journey is one of embracing chaos and turning it into comedic gold.
The FSU Years: Birth of a Legend
If FSU should pride itself on any successful alumni, it should be Bert Kreischer. This Florida State legend spent six whole years at FSU and no, he was not going for a graduate degree. While Bert Kreischer may have majored in English, his true accomplishment was the Rolling Stones article written on him titled, "Bert Kreischer: The Undergraduate." In 1997, during Kreischer's sixth year at FSU, the university was ranked number one by The Princeton Review in their annual list of the top "party schools" in the United States. This six-page piece is what would start Kreischer's notoriety. In this article, he was named “the number one partyer at the number one party school in the nation,” designated by The Princeton Review back in 1997 in their annual rankings of the top party schools.
The article, titled "Bert Kreischer: The Undergraduate," recounted Kreischer's legendary party antics, which included heavy drinking and public nudity. These antics would later serve as inspiration for the 2002 film National Lampoon's Van Wilder.
From Potbelly's to the Big Apple: Launching a Comedy Career
Not only this, Bert Kreischer started his career at Pot’s! Of course, no one knows what that means because every FSU student is hardworking and studious, but it is a hole-in-the-wall establishment where he first began to perform. Kreischer's first experience with stand-up comedy was at Potbelly's, a bar and nightclub in Tallahassee, Florida. After being taped in Potbelly's, a talent agent invited him to New York City and his career took off.
Within five months of moving to New York City to pursue a career in comedy, Will Smith's production company offered Kreischer a deal for a sitcom.

Stand-Up Success: Shirtless and Hilarious
Now, Kreischer has appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and has released multiple stand-up Netflix specials. As a comedian, Bert is special and every person who watches him for the first time soon finds this out. Kreischer is known for performing stand-up comedy while shirtless. As soon as he takes his shirt off, throws it into the crowd and proceeds to do his show shirtless, people are left wondering if he is mentally stable. Honestly, Bert is probably not mentally stable. Especially since he was discovered solely for his aptitude for heavy drinking and public nudity, but he consistently makes people laugh and radiates a much needed positive energy.
He is also known for his storytelling; his most popular story is about how he allegedly earned the nickname "The Machine". The story revolves around how he inadvertently helped the Russian mafia rob a train while on a college trip to Russia.
Netflix has subsequently produced four comedy specials, filming Bert Kreischer: Secret Time in Philadelphia, PA released August 2018; filming Bert Kreischer: Hey Big Boy in Cleveland, OH released March 2020; filming Bert Kreischer: Razzle Dazzle in Omaha released March 2023; and filming Bert Kreischer: Lucky in Tampa, FL released March 2025.
Television and Beyond: Expanding the Kreischer Brand
Kreischer has also found success in television, serving as host of the television series Hurt Bert on FX as well as Bert the Conqueror and Trip Flip on Travel Channel. He starred in the comedy film The Machine (2023). When he was featured on Bert the Conqueror, Kreischer traveled to amusement parks and other entertainment venues across the United States in order to experience thrilling rides and activities.
As part of his production company, Berty Boy Productions, Kreischer produces and hosts the podcasts Bertcast and Open Tabs and the cooking show Something’s Burning.

"The Cabin with Bert Kreischer": A Comedic Retreat
In his most recent Netflix release, "The Cabin with Bert Kreischer," he focuses on his mental health after being on the road constantly for a year. Also, it is probably the dream vacation given the state of the world today with COVID-19. In this short series, he goes on a purifying retreat to a remote cabin with many different personalities, such as Caitlyn Jenner and Bobby Lee. In each episode, he spends a day with some of this generation's funniest and most influential people. Surprisingly, he has some really amazing conversations while still being hilarious and doing chaotic stunts throughout each episode.
Every episode focuses on something unique, helping Kreischer find a healthy equilibrium in his life. While the first episode focuses on "MIND, BODY AND SOUL," the second episode discusses identity with Caitlyn Jenner. These episodes, for whatever reason, also included Tom Segura helping Bert butcher an emu and Fortune Feimster assisting him in milking a goat. While not every episode fully lands, Kreischer tries to provide something for everyone.
The episode "RELEASE" is arguably the best episode. This one involves the hilarious guests of Bobby Lee and Donnell Rawlings, scream therapy and a discussion of past traumas. Kreischer and each guest lightly discuss their difficulties of the past, which made them feel more relatable. During difficult times comedy always provides some light to the situation, and this show is no different. Kreischer offers a level of relatability to his viewers that many other influencers could not even come close to.
Personal Life
Bert and LeeAnn were married in December 2003. They welcomed their first child together, daughter Georgia, on June 8, 2004. Three days after her birth, Bert was back on the road doing comedy and he credits his wife for taking care of Georgia while he was away. Their second child, daughter Ila, was born on July 18, 2006.
