Blinn College Continuing Education: Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development
Blinn College provides a comprehensive suite of Workforce Education programs designed for lifelong learning. These non-credit courses are available through the Division of Workforce Education across the thirteen-county service area. Designed to meet the specific technical training needs of individuals and organizations, these programs enable students to master skills and learn subjects without enrolling in traditional college credit courses. Courses are publicized and offered year-round.
Certificates and Continuing Education Units
Upon satisfactory completion of a course, students may be awarded Certificates of Completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). One CEU represents ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience, characterized by responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. The Continuing Education instructional staff possesses the necessary educational credentials and technical experience in their respective subject areas.
Course Prerequisites and Registration
Some classes have prerequisites that students must meet before enrolling. Payment is required at the time of registration, and students may be dropped from the course that evening if payment is not received. Online registration is available through Workforce Education. However, payment is not accepted over the phone but can be completed online after phone registration. Students utilizing financial aid, tuition assistance, or third-party assistance (e.g., DARS, Workforce Solutions, GI Bill) must register in person at a Blinn campus location.
Payment Plans
Promissory notes are available when registering for a class at least three (3) weeks before the start date. Half of the tuition payment is due at registration to hold a spot in that course. The second, and final, payment is due seven (7) business days before the course start date. If the second payment is not made by the due date, the student will be dropped and a refund will be processed for the initial tuition payment.
Refund Policy
Refunds take a minimum of six (6) weeks to process. Students will not receive a refund immediately when enrollment is withdrawn. To receive a full tuition refund, the student must notify the division of workforce education twenty-four (24) business hours before the course start date. In the event a course is canceled by Workforce Education, a full refund will be given to the student. If a student has registered online and needs to withdraw from a course before the start date, the student needs to call or visit in-person to complete their withdrawal.
