Amy Hayes, a Decatur, Ill., native and former Bradley assistant coach, was named the 10th head coach in program history. Hayes brought with her a wealth of experience at the NCAA Division I level, having previously coached at Portland State and Boston University.

Portland State (2006-2008): Hayes led Portland State to a 92-81 record in her three seasons. In her first season in 2006, she guided the Vikings to their first-ever regular-season conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Hayes earned Pacific Coast Softball Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2006. Under her leadership, Portland State achieved a 38-20 record and had three players earn first-team all-conference honors. Pitcher Mandy Hill was named conference Pitcher of the Year and earned second-team NFCA All-West Region honors. In her final season, the Vikings finished 31-27 and tied for second in the PCSC regular-season race, with wins against PAC 10 conference teams such as Washington, Oregon State, and Oregon.

Boston University (2001-2004): Prior to her time at Portland State, Hayes coached at Boston University, leading the Terriers to three consecutive America East Titles (2001, 2002, & 2003) and back-to-back conference tournament titles (2002 & 2003). During her tenure in Boston, the Terriers swept the conference Player, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Year awards in 2002, a historic achievement in the America East Conference. Boston claimed 15 first-team America East All-Conference picks, seven NFCA All-Northeast Region selections, two conference Players of the Year, two conference Pitchers of the Year, two conference Rookies of the Year, and 12 America East All-Tournament picks.

Hayes's coaching career also includes a three-year run as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech. She graduated from Evansville in 1992 with a degree in sociology with a specialization in anthropology. During her playing career, she earned first-team Midwestern Collegiate Conference honors as a senior. She served as a graduate assistant coach at Evansville during the 1993 season and was the head coach at Maroa-Forsyth High School in Maroa, Ill., during the 1993-94 school year.

Sarah Willis: From Texas Tech Star to Bradley Braves Coach

Sarah Willis was named the 11th head coach in Bradley Softball history. Willis came to Bradley after leading Bowling Green State to postseason play for the first time in 18 seasons.

Bowling Green State (2016-2022): In her seventh season at Bowling Green in 2022, Willis led the Falcons to a 34-21 overall record, including a 16-11 mark in the Mid-American Conference. The team reached the final nine of the National Invitational Softball Championship in Fort Collins, CO. Willis mentored sophomore Payton Gottshall, who earned the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year honor in 2022 after going 27-13 with a 1.66 ERA.

Before Bowling Green, Willis spent one season at Dayton, where she helped the Flyers to their first Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship and program records for overall wins (39-14) and league victories (20-2). At Dayton, Willis mentored Kayla English, who earned the A-10 Pitcher of the Year honor in 2015.

Willis's collegiate playing career began at the University of Washington in 2004 before she transferred to Texas Tech, where she played from 2005-08. She appeared in 116 games for the Red Raiders, collecting 22 wins and 298 strikeouts in 341.0 career innings pitched. Willis remains fifth in Texas Tech history with 6.18 career strikeouts per 7 innings, seventh in appearances, and eighth in innings pitched. Willis graduated from Texas Tech in 2008 with a degree in psychology and earned her master's degree in sport and exercise science from Texas Tech in 2010. She was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Conference first-team selection.
