Best Brunch Spots in College Station: A Culinary Exploration
College Station, home to Texas A&M University, is more than just a college town. It boasts a diverse and evolving culinary scene, and brunch is no exception. From Southern comfort food to upscale French cuisine, the city offers a range of options to satisfy any brunch craving. This article explores some of the best brunch spots in College Station, highlighting their unique offerings and atmospheres.
Southern Comfort and Aggie Spirit: Must-Try Brunch Places
Several establishments in College Station capture the essence of Southern hospitality and Aggie pride, making them local favorites for brunch.
Stella Southern Cafe: A Taste of Home
Stella Southern Cafe embodies real Southern charm. The restaurant emphasizes Southern hospitality and fantastic food. The cafe operates on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritizing guests at the counter. Table holding is not allowed to ensure fairness. The cafe is a popular spot, often bustling with activity.
The menu features Southern classics made from scratch, offering a taste of home-cooked goodness. A vivid example is this wall you see, making those tempting food options even more impressive. Who doesn’t love chicken and waffles? Owned and operated by an Aggie, it started as a food truck and has grown into a genuine College Station hotspot. At the time, he named it “Mess” because everything seemed to be a mess, but the food is quite the opposite. A great option for those seeking a hearty and comforting brunch experience.
Hullabaloo Diner: A Nostalgic Trip
This nationally recognized stop is one of the few authentic diners in Texas. There’s a reason why it’s been featured on the Food Network’s popular series Diners Drive-Ins & Dives, as well as the Texas Bucket List. A local favorite since 2005, Hullabaloo is a one-of-a-kind place surrounded by history. Here, you can enjoy classic diner fare in a setting that exudes nostalgia.

The Rise and Swine
Let’s be honest. Breakfast and lunch are both great, but mixing the two? We couldn’t decide between the Rise and Swine or the Shrimp and Grits! It’s southern to its core, making it so special because it’s all made from scratch. We agree with the sign inside that reads, “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy brunch and that’s basically the same thing.” Power waffles, mixed-berry waffles, French toast, sausage and fennel omelets, or country bowls with sausage and gravy? each day, so you can sleep in then grab a mimosa at the bar, a booth, or a table - inside or outside. It’s truly an environment made for more than just brunch. It’s also about good conversation with your friends and family, or even that first date. A little bit of Aggieland can be found in just about every College Station restaurant or business. With a full bar, inside and outside seating - you can’t go wrong. Here’s a place only found in College Station, and it’s a must-go when you’re in town.

A Hidden Gem: Watching Planes While You Dine
It's not a place you'll come across by accident at the airport but it's a great destination. It was fun watching the planes come and go while we ate. My salisbury stake was tender and tasty. The highlight on my plate, though, was the bourbon glazed carrots. Perfectly cooked and flavored. We had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. We started with the chorizo stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapeños which was absolutely delicious. I had the cheeseburger with a fruit bowl. The honey glaze bbq sauce was a great addition to the burger. To top it off, you get to watch planes taxi by and then take off. Absolutely amazing experience. We came here for a team dinner following a work event, and we were very well taken care of. Drinks and appetizers came out quickly given how full the place was, and everything brought out was made to perfection. Perfection! I had the filet, mashed potato's and asparagus, everything was cooked perfectly! Highly recommend! My husband had chicken fried steak and enjoyed that, as well. This has by far been my favorite restaurant visit in town since I moved here! Great views of the runway (make a reservation for a good seat during peak hours), perfectly home-cooked style meals, and they always have excellent service as well.
