Cameron Spencer, born on April 6, 2000, is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early Life and High School Career
Before his college career, Spencer excelled at Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, where he earned six letters across basketball, lacrosse, and golf. In 2019, he was named the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) SportsMajors Player of the Year, leading the Lakers to a 30-6 record. During that season, he averaged 25 points, seven rebounds, and 4.5 assists in MIAA A-Conference games, showcasing his shooting accuracy with 58.0 percent from 2-point range and 42.0 percent from beyond the arc. He was also a standout lacrosse player, earning MIAA A Conference All-Star First Team honors as a senior.

Spencer started his college basketball journey with the Loyola Greyhounds.
2019-2020 (Freshman Season)
As a freshman, Spencer was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team. He played in 23 games, starting in nine, and quickly became a key player for the Greyhounds. Despite missing nine games due to injury, he averaged 10.0 points and led the team with 3.13 assists per game. His assist-to-turnover ratio was particularly impressive; at the time of his injury (following the January 2 game), he led NCAA Division I in this statistic. Although he didn't play enough games to qualify, his 3-point shooting was a team-best 43.6 percent. In the final game of the season, he scored a then-career-high 24 points in the Patriot League Championships against Lehigh. He demonstrated his versatility with 15 points and six assists at Mount St. Mary’s and 13 points and five assists without a turnover at Delaware State. He earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 13 points and 5 rebounds against Binghamton, Omaha, and IUPUI.
2020-2021 (Sophomore Season)
Spencer's sophomore season was limited due to injury, as he played in only the final five games, starting the last three. Despite the limited playing time, he averaged 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, along with 3.0 assists. He scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds at Army West Point in the Patriot League Semifinals.

2021-2022 (Junior Season)
Spencer had a breakout junior season, earning several accolades, including All-Patriot League First Team and Academic All-Patriot League Team honors. He also received All-NABC District XIII Second Team recognition. He led the Patriot League in points (18.9), steals (2.3), and minutes (37.0) per game. His free-throw percentage was second in the conference at 85.8%, and he was also second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4:1). Spencer's 556 points during the season ranked 17th in school history, and his 68 steals tied for fourth. He had several standout performances, including scoring 28 points in the Patriot League Quarterfinal against Boston University and 23 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals against Lehigh. He earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors on January 17 after wins against Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh. He tallied a then-career-high 32 points against College of Charleston.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2022-2023)
After a successful career at Loyola, Spencer transferred to Rutgers University.

In his single season with the Scarlet Knights, Spencer made an immediate impact. He quickly became known for his competitive spirit and eagerness to contribute to the team. Spencer played a crucial role in several key games, including a notable performance against top-ranked Purdue, where he hit the game-winning 3-pointer. Despite being considered underutilized at times, his contributions were vital to the team's success.
UConn Huskies (2023-2024)
Spencer then transferred to the University of Connecticut (UConn) for his final college season.
2023-2024 Season
At UConn, Spencer achieved the pinnacle of college basketball success by winning the NCAA title. His sharpshooting and experience were crucial to the Huskies' championship run.

NBA Draft and Professional Career
Memphis Grizzlies (2024-Present)
On June 27, 2024, Spencer was selected in the second round with the 53rd overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 2024 NBA draft. Shortly after, his draft rights were traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He is currently a member of the Grizzlies.
