Carthage College Cheer Camp: Building Spirit and Achieving Excellence

The Carthage Spirit Team boasts an outstanding tradition of promoting school spirit and supporting Carthage athletic teams. Central to this tradition is the annual cheer camp, a vital experience for team building, skill development, and preparation for the year ahead. This article delves into the Carthage College cheer camp, exploring its purpose, activities, accomplishments, and impact on the student-athletes involved.

The Purpose and Structure of Carthage Cheer Camp

The Carthage cheer camp serves as a multi-faceted platform for the Spirit Team. It is not just about perfecting routines; it is about building a strong, unified team and preparing student-athletes for success both on and off the sidelines. Auditions/Tryouts are held in April or May. They are open to anyone who will be a full-time Carthage student the following academic year. Cheerleaders, dancers, and mascots who make the cut are required to attend UDA dance camp/UCA mascot camp with the team in early August of that year. Those who attend camp are then members of the team for the entire academic year.

Recent Triumphs and Recognition

Carthage has consistently stood out at cheer camps. Both the cheer and dance teams returned to campus with new gameday material and a long list of accomplishments. These awards are a reflection of the team’s dedication to their 2025-26 motto - Show Up. Hype. Help. - and meaningful collaboration across the program.
