Carthage College Tuition and Scholarship Opportunities
Carthage College offers a variety of tuition and scholarship programs designed to support students with diverse talents, backgrounds, and academic achievements. These opportunities range from partial scholarships to full tuition coverage and are often renewable for up to four years. Carthage awards more than $2 million in competitive scholarships each year to incoming students who demonstrate leadership skills and academic strength.
Academic and Leadership Scholarships
Carthage provides several scholarships based on academic excellence and leadership potential. These competitive scholarships require a special application, audition, and/or participation on the part of the student.
Competitive Scholarships: Open to all majors, Carthage offers 35 scholarships ranging from $33,000 to full tuition per year. These scholarships are renewable and designed to recognize and support outstanding students.
Transfer Student Scholarships: Carthage awards one full-tuition scholarship and one $33,000-per-year scholarship, renewable for up to three years, to new incoming transfer students who show determination, intelligence, and motivation.
Spring Term Scholarships: One full-tuition scholarship and one $31,000 per year scholarship, renewable for up to three years, are awarded to new incoming Spring Term freshmen and transfer students who show determination, intelligence and motivation.

Targeted Scholarships
Carthage offers specific scholarships tailored to students from particular regions, fields of study, or with specific affiliations.
Tarble Family California Scholarships: Up to 10 scholarships ranging in value up to $33,000 per year, are available to incoming freshmen or transfer students from California. Tarble Family California Scholarships recipients will receive up to $33,000 per year in Carthage assistance.
Modern Language Scholarships: Up to four scholarships are awarded to students majoring or minoring in French or Japanese, or majoring in Spanish. Each scholarship covers $33,000 per year renewable for four years, and incorporates all Carthage assistance.
Kenosha/Racine Scholarships: Carthage awards twelve full-tuition scholarships as part of the Kenosha/Racine Scholarship program. These scholarships recognize the City of Kenosha’s agreement to lease land to Carthage for residence halls, parking, and practice fields, as well as Carthage’s ongoing commitment to our neighbors in Racine County. These scholarships incorporate all Carthage assistance.
City of Kenosha Scholarship: One full-tuition scholarship is awarded to a dependent of a City of Kenosha police officer or firefighter. This scholarship incorporates all Carthage assistance.

Visual and Performing Arts Scholarships
Students with talents in the visual and performing arts can pursue scholarships through competitive auditions and portfolio reviews.
- Visual and Performing Arts Scholarships: Carthage awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000 per year to admitted students who excel in visual and performing arts. Recipients are required to participate in department activities through service and creative work. If you have an interest in visual and performing arts, take advantage of these scholarship opportunities by scheduling and completing an audition and/or a portfolio review by late February.
Alumni Relations Scholarships
Carthage values its alumni community and offers scholarships to their direct relatives.
- Alumni Council Scholarships: Three $2,000 scholarships (increased or decreased at the discretion of the Alumni Council) are awarded to a direct relative of a graduate (for example: parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, grandparents, and/or cousins) of Carthage.

Carthage offers multiple full-tuition scholarships through various programs, providing comprehensive financial support to deserving students. These scholarships incorporate all Carthage assistance.
