Unlock Savings: A Comprehensive Guide to Student Discounts on Transportation and More

College life presents a unique set of financial challenges. Between tuition, books, and living expenses, finding ways to save money is crucial for students and their families. Fortunately, many companies and organizations recognize the importance of supporting students and offer a variety of discounts on essential services and products, including transportation. This article explores the landscape of student discounts, with a particular focus on transportation options like bus services, as well as other valuable discounts available to student-athletes and coaches in specific programs.

Student Transportation Discounts: Getting Home Without Breaking the Bank

Heading off to college or heading home for a breather shouldn’t mean breaking the bank. For students and their families, finding an affordable and comfortable way to travel is a top priority. Forget the stress of fluctuating gas prices and costly last-minute plane tickets. Several bus companies offer student discounts to make travel more accessible.

Coach USA/ShortLine Student Discounts

ShortLine/Coach USA recognizes the importance of supporting students in the communities they serve. They offer discounts on scheduled routes to college students with valid IDs. These routes pass through many cities and towns with colleges and universities. To make it easier for students to travel and enjoy the area or even get home more often, they offer a variety of discounts.

  • Specific Route Discounts: For example, a student fare discount of $5.00 is available for college students on regular round-trip tickets only when traveling to and from Bangor, Augusta, and Portland, ME to Boston South Station or Logan Airport. This discount does not apply to same-day round-trip tickets, and there are no student discounts available for the Maine Coastal Route.
  • Identification Requirements: A valid College Student ID must be presented to the ticket agent at the time of purchase. No other school documents are accepted. If purchasing the ticket online, use a specified coupon code.
  • Ticket Validity and Restrictions: Student round-trip discount tickets are typically good for a set period. Same-day round-trip tickets often have to be purchased in person at the terminal on the day of travel ONLY.
  • Airline Employee Discount: For those who work for an airline at Logan Airport, tickets can be purchased in person in Concord, Portland, or Boston South Station to receive the Airline Employee Discount. Valid employee identification is required for ticket purchase.
  • Important Note: No reservations are accepted. In order to ensure yourself a seat, arrive 30 minutes before bus departure. A photo ID must be shown at the time of purchase.
