Navigating Student Accounts at Coastal Carolina University: A Comprehensive Guide

Coastal Carolina University (CCU) offers a wide array of resources to support students' academic, personal, and financial success. This article provides a comprehensive overview of student accounts, billing processes, and related services available to CCU students. Understanding these aspects is crucial for managing finances and ensuring a smooth academic journey.

Student Accounts Management

The Student Accounts office plays a central role in managing the financial aspects of a student's enrollment at CCU. This office is responsible for billing tuition, fees, housing, meal plans, mandatory fees, general deposits, and other miscellaneous charges that may appear on a student’s account. Students can authorize parents and guardians to view account information and make payments.

Accessing and Managing Your Account

Once enrolled at CCU, Self-Service becomes a vital tool for students. Through Self-Service, students can register for classes, view their financial statements, and even print unofficial transcripts. Students retain the same username throughout their enrollment at Coastal Carolina University.

Returning Students: Students who have missed one major term (i.e., Fall/Spring) will have their accounts removed from the system and will need to apply for re-admission. Former students who are no longer enrolled and not registered at CCU are not eligible to keep a CCU account.

Application Status Portal: To check your application status, under the "Returning Users:" section, click the "Login to continue an application" link and then "Log in". If you don't know your username and password, use the "Forgot Your Password?" link to retrieve this information. Once you are logged in, click on the link for your "Submitted" Undergraduate Application, then click the "Open Application" button in the message box that will appear. You will then be presented with your Application Status Portal.

  • Spring initial settlement refunds: For those who have set up direct deposit will begin Feb. 3rd. All others will begin on Feb.

Tax Information: Form 1098-T

Form 1098-T is necessary for persons who wish to utilize Educational Tax Credits. Form 1098-T will be available by Jan. 31 to students who meet the IRS reporting requirements. It's important to note that some or all of your charges related to Study Abroad & International Education may be classified as Qualified Tuition and Related Fees. These are not included on your form 1098-T.

Additional Resources at Coastal Carolina University

Beyond the Student Accounts office, CCU offers a comprehensive network of resources to support students throughout their academic journey:

  • Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons: These facilities serve as intellectual hubs, providing access to information and resources for learning and research.
  • The Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC): The TLC provides support for a variety of courses offered at Coastal Carolina University. The TLC is comprised of three curriculum-specific tutoring centers fully staffed by peer and graduate tutors: the Foreign Language Instructional Center, Mathematics Learning Center and the Writing Center.
  • Counseling Services: Counseling Services assists Coastal Carolina University students in defining and accomplishing their personal and academic goals. Priorities of the service include: treatment of mental health concerns, prevention of psychological difficulties, educating students to live emotionally and behaviorally healthy lives, and contributing to a healthy campus environment.
  • LiveWell Office: The LiveWell Office is a resource for the campus community to promote societal, community, relationship, and individual wellness.
  • Accessibility and Disability Services (ADS): ADS offers support and assistance to current and incoming students with disabilities and medical conditions by coordinating and implementing appropriate accommodations and providing resources and services as they relate to academics, university housing, dining and campus activities.
  • CHANT411: CHANT411 provides a central point of contact for students, families, faculty, staff and visitors who want a question answered or need guidance navigating the university system.
  • CINO Food Pantry: The CINO Food Pantry was created by students in an effort to help reduce hunger and improve nutrition on campus. The idea for the CINO Food Pantry originated in a University 110 class in 2012. The need for the pantry was determined based on the percentage of CCU students who received financial aid and the number of juniors and seniors who lived off campus and struggled with having enough money to cover the average amount of rent each month and still have enough money to buy food or a meal plan. CINO Pantry is open to all students.
  • Dean of Students Office: The Dean of Students Office partners with Coastal Carolina University students, their families, faculty and staff to promote the holistic development of students focusing on student advocacy, crisis management and personal accountability. The office is responsible for administering the University’s policies and procedures regarding student conduct.
  • University Housing: University Housing creates a foundation of care for resident safety and success. University Housing is able to assist students with any housing concerns that they may have.
  • Student Empowerment and Advocacy: Student Empowerment and Advocacy is not therapy. The laws that apply to a confidential therapeutic relationship do not apply to all helping relationships. There may be instances when information needs to be shared with other campus partners to ensure the safety of the campus community. While confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, information will only be shared strictly on a need-to-know basis.
