Becoming a Coca-Cola Scholar is a major accomplishment. The scholarship has an acceptance rate that makes those of top colleges seem easy in comparison. More than 105,000 students apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship each year. Out of this large and competitive applicant pool, only 150 students are ultimately selected as Coca-Cola Scholars, making the acceptance rate less than 0.1%. In 2023 the Coca-Cola scholarship had around 91,000 applicants. To get an idea of just how competitive the scholarship is, in the 2023 cycle, less than 1/6 of 1% of applicants were chosen.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Phase 2 (October-November): Semifinalist phase. After the deadline, the scholarship committee reviews applications and selects 1,200 semifinalists to proceed to the next stage. By the end of October, all applicants will be notified of their application status. If selected, students will complete a second application that includes essays, a transcript, and a recommendation. The Program Reading Committee, comprising 30 education professionals, will review applications in 10 teams of 3. 250 will advance to the Regional Finalists phase. Then, they will participate in virtual 20-minute Regional Interviews with a team of 3-4 Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Staff and Program Alumni. Were you selected as a Coca-Cola regional finalist? Congratulations! You will have the opportunity to have the interview in-person or online. If you need to have an online interview, know that this will not affect your application! This interview will not be like a normal college alumni interview, as all of your interviewers will have read your application thoroughly and will ask pointed questions about specific parts of your application. Therefore, practicing will make you more prepared to answer questions and will allow you to feel more relaxed.
Phase 4 (March): Scholar selection. The Program Reading Committee will select 150 Regional Finalists to become the next Coca-Cola Scholars. Chosen students are then invited to attend Scholars Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Finally, after an interview process, 150 Coke scholars are chosen in March.
