Staff and Administrative Positions

  • Chief Information Security Officer (CISO): Reporting to the Chief Information Officer & VP for IT, the CISO is responsible for managing the College of Charleston’s information security program to maintain compliance and align with institutional risk.
  • Director of Real Estate Operations and Planning: This pivotal role is responsible for managing all aspects of the College’s real estate portfolio. The Director will lead strategic planning, acquisition, disposition, leasing, and development initiatives that align with the College’s academic and operational goals.
  • Academic Advisor: The Academic Advisor supports undergraduate students with all aspects of academic planning by promoting and encouraging self- authorship and resource utilization in support of academic success, as well as timely and informed pursuit of an academic major.
  • Administrative Operations Manager: Serves as the primary administrative professional for the Department of Art and Architectural History and provides administrative support for the Historic Preservation and Community Planning program.
  • Operations Manager: Performs office coordination, admissions, and marketing duties for the School of Business Continuing and Professional Education department. Exercises discretion and good judgment when performing office procedures and dealing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Technical Director: Supports the Senior Technical Director in all technical aspects of diverse programs/productions each year, ranging from multi-disciplinary performing arts events to institutional programming.
  • Utilities Plant Operator: Operates and maintains the generation and distribution of chilled water, steam and condensate.
  • Assistant Coach: Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach instructs and trains athletes to prepare them for competition. Instructs athletes in general or specialized aspects of their sport.

Facilities and Maintenance Positions

  • Electrician Assistant: Assists journeyman electricians in the performance of their electrical work in the distribution, operation, preventive maintenance, maintenance and repair of the primary electrical systems throughout the entire College campus, as well as, maintaining electrical equipment within various buildings, dormitories, historical homes, office buildings, and large facilities.
  • Maintenance Technician: Performs semi-skilled trades work in the renovation, upkeep, repair and maintenance of all residence halls and historic houses. Troubleshoots and performs general building maintenance, including carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC filter changes and inspection services.
  • Carpenter: Performs skilled carpentry, drywall work, & formica work in the alteration, repair & maintenance of the College of Charleston’s facilities, dormitories, historic homes, office buildings, equipment, & grounds.
  • Groundskeeper: Maintains the grounds of a formally landscaped college campus, to include remote campus locations such as Grice Marine Lab, Stono Preserve and Patriot Point athletic facilities. This includes routine maintenance such as policing the grounds, mowing, fertilizing, mulching, pruning, weeding, and renovating beds as needed.
  • HVAC Technician: Performs skilled duties related to installation, operation, maintenance & repair to heating, ventilating & air condition (HVAC) systems within large campus dormitories, historic houses and buildings connected to the Central Energy Facility. This includes chilled water systems, steam heated hot water, steam condensate piping, and self-contained refrigerant systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance Technician: To perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of light and commercial mechanical equipment at an institutional setting. To work independently to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC auxiliary equipment, plumbing equipment related to mechanical equipment, electrical equipment such as motors, breakers and their associated controls.
  • Electrician: Responsible for accomplishing a heavy workload and coordinating and performing highly skilled electrical work in the distribution of the primary electrical power throughout the entire College campus.
  • Public Safety Officer: Under general supervision, operates the base radio station for College of Charleston Public Safety and Fire and EMS as well as interagency radio systems with the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch and directs officers promptly to emergency and other locations.
  • Security Officer: Under minimal supervision, performs safety and security duties in protecting State and personal property while maintaining security at the Addlestone Library. Performs routine duties following clearly prescribe standards and practices as set forth by the Director of Public Safety and the Library Services Evening Manager. Must be certified for special qualifications as assigned.
  • Police Officer: Under direct supervision is responsible for the protection of life and property at the College of Charleston. Enforces the laws of the State, County and the rules and regulations of the College of Charleston.

Financial Positions

  • Accounts Payable Technician: Processes and audits accounts payable transactions including the recording and/or updating of all related transactions in the online Banner system, supporting documentation and any necessary correspondence.

Veteran's Preference

The College has a veteran’s preference in the hiring process for all posted FTE positions (faculty and staff). Qualifying United States Armed Forces veteran applicants who apply on or after January 1, 2021, are entitled to consideration for preference in the hiring process.
