Colorado Technical University's Student Grievance Procedure is designed so that a student's grievance can be investigated and addressed promptly and without undue delay. In order to achieve that, it is strongly recommended that students begin the steps outlined in the procedure at the first indication of a problem or concern. The Office of the Ombudsman is available as a resource for students to mediate their complaints within the University, striving to provide a resolutions for all student concerns.
Students that enroll at Colorado Technical University Online are advised to read the Enrollment Agreement to make sure they understand and agree to the terms, rules, and regulations set forth therein. The Institutional Refund Policy is an integral part of the Enrollment Agreement and is incorporated by specific reference. Colorado Technical University Online's Institutional Refund Policy, refunds are calculated in accordance with the Institutional Refund Policy. Funds will be returned following the same hierarchy as the Return of title IV Funds policy followed by other aid sources, such as private loans, and then the student. There will be no refund of tuition and fees if a student completes any course during the quarter. In the event that a student withdraws or is dismissed from all classes during the quarter, refunds of tuition and fees will be calculated according to the following refund calculation: Number of days remaining in quarter after withdraw date divided by total number of days in the quarter equals the percentage of refund.
Historical Context and Recognition
Established as Colorado Technical College in 1965, the institution initially focused on training former military personnel in technical and vocational subjects. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Robert (Bob) Turkisher, a flight engineer, founded the institution and served as its first president. To support his efforts, Turkisher brought in Air Force Colonel Richard Davis to be the Human Resources Director at CTU.

In 2008, CTU teamed up with the nonprofit Yellow Ribbon Fund to create the annual CTU Patriot Scholarship (formerly the Wounded Warrior Scholarship), which awards 25 wounded service members and veterans, as well as 25 spouses of wounded service members, with scholarships.
Colorado Tech has received numerous awards and achievements since its establishment. The university is a subsidiary of Perdoceo, formerly Career Education Corporation.
