CSULB Student Health Services: A Comprehensive Guide to Services Offered

Access and Eligibility
All students enrolled for the current semester have paid a $75.00 Student Health Fee included with tuition, which provides access to the Student Health Services. It is strongly recommended that students have health insurance to cover hospitalizations and other specialty services not available at the Student Health Services.
Immunization Requirements
All incoming students are REQUIRED to provide proof of immunizations per Executive Order 803.
Clinical Services
The Student Health Services provides basic care for acute medical conditions, injuries, and illnesses. As a general primary care clinic, they address a variety of health concerns. It's important to note that in cases of immediate danger, an ambulance will be called to transport the patient to the hospital.

Types of Clinicians
All of the clinicians are licensed medical providers. The clinic has a variety of clinical providers, such as physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Appointments
Same Day Appointments are for patients who need to see a medical provider due to an urgent health problem. If you are a first-time user, please complete the Health History forms before your appointment. You can find the forms in the Patient Portal.

Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medications
CSULB students, faculty, and staff can purchase the Top 50 Over-The-Counter (OTC) items at reduced prices at the SHS Pharmacy. To purchase OTC items simply visit the pharmacy counter in the SHS or you may order our most popular OTCs online and pick up at the pharmacy during our business hours. (Prices may change at any time; Our OTC items are mostly in generic)

The pharmacy is open during the following hours:
- Mondays: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Tuesdays: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Wednesdays: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Thursdays: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Fridays: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The pharmacy is closed for lunch from 12:30pm - 1:30pm.
Prescription Services
Prescription service at SHS pharmacy is for CSULB Students Only. The pharmacy is located on site for the convenience of students. They dispense prescriptions that are on their Drug Formulary List. If you prefer, prescriptions can be filled at an off-campus pharmacy. The pharmacy does not accept insurance plans for prescriptions in our clinic and does not accept prescriptions from outside providers. Financial Assistance
It is strongly recommended that students have health insurance to cover hospitalizations and other specialty services not available at the Student Health Services. If your income is $1400/month or less and your parents do not claim you on their taxes, you may be eligible for Medi-Cal at no cost to you. If you are currently enrolled in Medi-Cal in another county, you will need to change your Medi-Cal to LA County to access local providers; call your home county case worker to update your address.
