Instructional Student Assistants in Computer Science and Engineering: The School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) hires Instructional Student Assistants (ISAs) to perform grading, tutoring, and/or laboratory assistance duties. These positions offer valuable experience in supporting students in CSE courses. Assignments are made by the School of Computer Science and Engineering department or a CSE faculty member at California State University, San Bernardino.

Administrative Support Roles: The university also offers administrative support positions in various departments. For example, an Administrative Support Coordinator II provides journey-level administrative and coordination support for Parking and Transportation Services, working under the general direction of the Director and Parking Manager. Marketing and Communications: The Office of Marketing and Communications hires a Graphic Design Student Assistant to support them by designing print and digital materials for the Department of Art & Design for Dotphotozine. The College of Extended and Global Education’s (CEGE) also hires a Marketing Communications Professional II (Video Production Specialist) to support its marketing and communications initiatives by creating high-quality, story-driven video content that promotes academic programs, faculty expertise, and student success. The position is responsible for planning, filming, and editing video productions, including interviews, promotional features, and recurring web series designed to enhance university visibility and enrollment marketing. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Professional and Continuing Education, the position serves as the key compliance and program analyst in the management of State Authorizations and of the development and administration of educational programs.

Dean's Office Support: The Associate Dean partners closely with the Dean of the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences to support effective and efficient college operations. This role provides leadership and oversight for faculty affairs, facilities planning and management, and college and university relations, while also serving as the manager of the Dean’s Office.

Library Opportunities

Access Services - Circulation: Access Services - Circulation student employees are responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, maintaining organization of the physical collection, helping library patrons in using the facilities and resources, assisting patrons in accessing physical and digital materials, and directing patrons to appropriate staff and librarians.

Housing and Residential Education

The Department of Housing and Residential Education (DHRE) at CSUSB offers numerous opportunities for student employment, providing valuable leadership and community-building experiences.

Housing Student Assistants: The Housing Student Assistant (HSA) position is an integral part of the daily operations of the DHRE. HSAs support DHRE outreach efforts, including tours for prospective students and families, and tabling and/or sharing student perspectives at department and campus events. HSAs work collaboratively with professional and student staff to support and assist the department with visitor/caller inquiries, resident requests, and general administrative operations of the DHRE community while providing excellent customer service.HSAs are Student Employees hired through CSUSB and paid an hourly wage.

Resident Assistants: Resident Assistant positions offer students the chance to develop leadership skills, build community, and support their fellow residents. As Mira Williams, Resident Assistant, notes, “Being a Resident Assistant in both AV and CV now has led me to become a more dedicated and devoted leader and person." Jillian Anderson, Resident Assistant, shares, “When I first came to CSUSB, it was from community college. I had no idea what a life in housing would like. Flash forward to my senior year, and I get to represent housing through programming, creativity, positivity, and as an individual who is a leader. I see my freshmen residents every day, and every day I am glad that their experience is as impactful as my own."

Student Coordinators: Student Coordinator positions offer opportunities to take on a leadership role within Housing and Residential Education. Lauren Pitman, Student Coordinator, explains, "Stepping into the role of student coordinator has been a transformative experience for me. I’ve loved being there for our residents and supporting our student leaders in Arrowhead Village and more. This role has opened my eyes to the stories and needs of both."

CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Opportunities

The CSUSB Palm Desert Campus extension in the Coachella Valley also offers student employment opportunities.

Tutors: The campus seeks to hire students to be part-time tutors to support students in their goals of learning English, improving academic skills, preparing for the Citizenship exam or GED exam, or pursing a high school diploma. This position is open exclusively to CSUSB Palm Desert Campus students.

Visiting Scholar Program in Egyptology

The Department of History at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) invites applications for the Adina Lee Savin and W Benson Harer Visiting Scholar in Egyptology. A successful candidate will be a member of the CSUSB community for one semester, either Fall 2026 (mid Aug- mid Dec) or Spring 2027 (mid Jan - late May). This position is designed for scholars taking a semester sabbatical from a home institution or as a postdoc for an up-and-coming scholar. The applicant should specialize in Ancient Egyptian History, Archaeology, Religion, Society, or Art anytime between the Predynastic to the Roman Periods. The successful candidate will receive housing, a partial meal plan, $2,500 towards relocation expenses, and a $27,000 stipend. CSUSB hosts the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA), which includes an important collection of approximately 500 artifacts dating from the Predynastic Period to the Coptic Period.
