Students can determine their earned units/hours by logging onto myGateway.

To obtain priority registration approval, students must submit their military ID, DD214, or N.O.B.E.
Utilizing the Class Schedule:
The class schedule contains several pages that provide useful registration information. Students should consult this resource for important dates, deadlines, and instructions.
Waitlists: Securing a Spot in a Closed Class
A waitlist is an electronic list of students who wish to enroll in a class that is already full. The waitlist capacity is determined by the academic divisions, and it's important to remember that being on a waitlist does not guarantee enrollment. Not all classes offer waitlists.
Checking Waitlist Status:
To add yourself to a waitlist or check your status:

- Log onto myGateway and go to Registration Tools.
- Choose either the new or classic registration tool.
- Enter the five-digit CRN of the class.
- Click “Check Waitlist Status.”
- It is recommended that you frequently check your waitlist status. You can also type “waitlist” in the search field on myGateway.
Responding to a Waitlist Notification:
If a seat becomes available in a class you are waitlisted for, you will receive a notification. You have 48 hours from the time the notification was sent to add the class OR until midnight prior to the first day of the class, whichever comes first. To add the class:
- Log onto myGateway and go to Registration Tools.
- Choose either the new or classic registration tool.
- Enter the five-digit CRN of the class.
What if No Seat Becomes Available?
If you remain on the waitlist and no seat becomes available before the first class meeting, contact the course instructor and attend the first class. Your name will appear on the instructor’s roster as waitlisted. If there are seats available, the instructor will provide you with an Add Authorization Code. You must add the class via myGateway entering the add code when prompted. The class must be added by the add deadline.
Add Authorization Codes: Enrolling in Classes
An Add Authorization Code, commonly known as the “Add Code,” is required for most classes to enroll.
Obtaining an Add Code:
- If the class is OPEN, an Add Authorization Code is not required.
- If the class is CLOSED, a Waitlist option may be offered, and the student must comply with the requirements.
- If you are unable to add via waitlist, attend the first class meeting of the class you wish to add. If seat space is available, ask the instructor to give you an Add Authorization Code.
Using an Add Code:
- IMMEDIATELY access myGateway registration.
- Click on the VALIDATE button.
The Add Authorization Code is good for five days. If you receive an error message when you use the add code, you must first correct the related problem before the class can be added. If the five days expire before correcting the problem, you must obtain another add code from the instructor.

Common Course Numbering (CCN) Implementation
Cypress College is implementing AB 1111 Common Course Numbering (CCN) to streamline course identification and transferability.
Course Name Changes:
Course names are changing for some classes in the following subjects (COMM, ENGL, POSC, PSY, MATH, STAT) in the fall 2025 semester. Fall 2025 registration will begin April 22, and the online searchable schedule for fall 2025 is now live with some changes as we implement AB 1111 Common Course Numbering (CCN).
Important Considerations:
- “Registration Appointment” is NOT an appointment to register at a specific date and time.
- This is Phase I of Common Course Numbering implementation. Not all of our computer and registration systems are currently capable of displaying Common Course Numbering.
- Currently, for CCN courses with no prefix change to the subject (ENGL, COMM), College Scheduler will still list the original subject and course number.
- For CCN courses with a prefix change to the subject (POLS, PSYC, STAT), College Scheduler will list a mix of the new subject with the old course number (e.g. You may also refer to the table below or on the District CCN page to see which course numbers have been changed. Courses with an asterisk (*) have subject prefix changes (e.g.
