Athletics
Davidson College officially adopted the Wildcat as their school mascot in 1917. The history of their mascot dates back to the late 1800s when rumors of a real-life wildcat prowling around campus began to spread. While there were no official sightings ever recorded, a group of pranksters constructed a fake wildcat in the 1890s to play a joke on their classmates, and eventually, the mascot we all know and love was created. The college competes at the NCAA Division I level in 19 sports. Of these sports, 10 are men's and 9 are women's. Davidson's sports teams are known as the Wildcats.

Stephen Curry: Revolutionizing Basketball
Wardell Stephen Curry II, who studied at Davidson College from 2006 to 2009 and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, is an American professional basketball player and point guard for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Widely considered the greatest shooter of all time, Curry is credited with revolutionizing the sport by inspiring teams and players at all levels to more prominently utilize the three-point shot. He is a four-time NBA champion, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), an NBA Finals MVP, and an NBA All-Star Game MVP. Woodrow Wilson: Shaping American History
Thomas Woodrow Wilson was the 28th president of the United States, serving from 1913 to 1921. He was the only Democrat to serve as president during the Progressive Era when Republicans dominated the presidency and legislative branches. As president, Wilson changed the nation's economic policies and led the United States into World War I. He was the leading architect of the League of Nations, and his stance on foreign policy came to be known as Wilsonianism. Wilson enrolled in Davidson College in 1873 and studied there until 1874.

Patricia Cornwell is an American crime writer known for her best-selling novels featuring medical examiner Kay Scarpetta.
