- Visual and Performing Arts Scholarships: Applicants with outstanding talents in music who would like to be members of the “Approaching Storm” Band or the University Choir may be considered for these scholarships. Candidates are selected from the pool of admitted applicants and are evaluated based on their complete academic profile, including GPA and test scores. No separate scholarship application is required. Eligibility does not guarantee an award. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and merit-based awards are not based on financial need.
- Osher Reentry and Crankstart Reentry Scholarships: These scholarships offer tuition assistance to non-traditional students enrolled at DSU.
General Scholarship Information
- FAFSA Completion: Students seeking need-based scholarships must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), available each year beginning October 1. A valid FAFSA is required. If your Student Aid Report does not contain an EFC (Expected Family Contribution), then your FAFSA is not valid.
- Application Process: The Office of Admissions offers scholarships for first-year, transfer, and international students. Some scholarships are awarded automatically based on admission criteria, while others require a separate application.
- Transfer Students: Transfer students must have their application accepted by the Office of Admissions before completing the scholarship application. The user ID is your Delaware State University student ID#, and the password is the PIN you use to access Student Services.

Recipients are not required to have a high need, but some amount of need is necessary. It is important to complete the scholarship application anyway. Students with very low need may be awarded scholarships as well as those students with high need.
- Eligibility Requirements: Make sure to read all of the eligibility requirements. Also, many scholarships have specific eligibility requirements aside from GPA that you may not meet. Scholarships are generally only available to undergraduate students unless otherwise specified in the criteria.

Scholarships at the University of Delaware
Delaware State University is not the only university in Delaware that provides good scholarship opportunities for international students. At the University of Delaware, international students are also eligible to compete for prestigious scholarships. All freshman international students who apply are automatically considered for all possible scholarships.
