Opportunities Beyond the Nuggets: NBA Internship Program
The NBA itself offers a Summer Internship Program, a 10-week program that runs from early June to mid-August. Internships are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. To be eligible, applicants must be either a rising college senior or current graduate student in an accredited institution at the time of the program. The NBA seeks individuals who share their passion for the game and the mission of the NBA - to inspire and connect people everywhere through the power of basketball. Candidates should be in excellent academic standing and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
The NBA Internship Program provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the business of basketball, develop critical career skills and contribute to meaningful projects across a range of departments. Interns are selected to work across one of our various departments, including Basketball Strategy & Analytics, Broadcast Operations, Facilities, IT, and Social Responsibility. Programming includes keynote conversations with senior leaders, professional development sessions, and social events.
The internship experience begins with a two-day orientation immersing our interns in key areas of the business and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to have a successful ten weeks within the league office. Interns are assigned to work on meaningful projects and initiatives across the league office and may spend time working in both the New York or New Jersey offices. Interns work a full 40-hour work-week (Monday-Friday), along with optional evening & weekend events, on occasion. The interns have an opportunity to sharpen their professional skills throughout the development curriculum. Applicants can apply to one of nine postings organized by business area and should apply to the job posting most aligned to their professional experience. Selected candidates will be invited to a video interview later in the fall. Undergraduate internships are paid at a rate of \$26 per hour. Undergraduate Technical internships are paid at a rate of \$28 per hour.

- NBA HBCU Fellowship Program: This program provides career development opportunities in the business of basketball for undergraduate and graduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Fellows are selected by NBA teams and the league office to work within a variety of departments, including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, IT, social responsibility and marketing.
- Business & Basketball Training Program: This is a series of virtual development programs in the key business areas of sales, analytics and basketball operations. By providing college juniors, seniors and those early in their careers with access to mentorship, networking and development opportunities, as well as real-world insights, the Future Analytics Stars, Future Basketball Operations Stars and Future Sales Stars programs connect current executives with the next generation of leaders in these fields. Programming includes deep dives into Analytics 101, and various aspects of operating an NBA team, with potential on-site experiences for the basketball operations program, as well as the world of ticketing and partnership sales. Participants also hear from guest speakers, engage in candid discussions on how to thrive in the sports industry and participate in skill-building sessions such as resume writing, interview preparation and networking.
- NBA China Associate Program: This is a two-year development initiative aimed at developing high-potential talent across the Asia region in a range of business functions. The program follows the 70/20/10 model: 70% of learning comes from hands-on experience, 20% from exposure to networks, and 10% from formal education.
- BAL Future Pros program: As the first NBA-affiliated league outside of the Americas, the Basketball Africa League represents more than just basketball. The BAL Future Pros program is a 12-month internship that provides the opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes knowledge of operations, identify entrepremeurship opportunities within the ecosystem, and expand their professional networks.

Qualifications
- Minimum Must be enrolled as a 1st or 2nd year law student. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Exceptional interpersonal skills. Strong writing and communication skills. Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Able to multi-task and demonstrate organizational, detail orientation, prioritization skills and time management skills to ensure that work related activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information.
- All Colorado Interns are required to attend all KSE Internship Program hosted events that occur during business hours. If unable to attend due to work, school or unforeseen circumstance, the Intern must inform the Internship Program Committee.
- All Interns are required to participate in the KSE Mentorship Program by meeting with assigned Mentor in person or virtually.
