Nebraska's Commitment to Nursing Education
Nebraska is actively addressing its nursing shortage through enhanced scholarship programs. Recent revisions to the state's nursing scholarship program have increased scholarship amounts and broadened eligibility criteria. Nebraska residents enrolled in LPN, ADN, or BSN programs can now access scholarships of up to $5,000 per semester, with those in quarterly programs eligible for up to $3,500 per quarter. This initiative is funded by the $5 million allocated to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services through the American Rescue Plan Act in 2022.
A bill has been established to create a nursing scholarship program administered by the Department of Health and Human Services. - Scholarships will be awarded, based on need and merit, to a maximum of three students.
- Students must also be from a small town (less than 25,000 population) in the southwestern United States and active Evangelical Christians.
University Area Rotary Club of Houston (RCUA) Nursing Scholarships
The University Area Rotary Club of Houston (RCUA) awards nursing scholarships to full-time students at accredited nursing schools in the Texas Medical Center (including Houston Christian University) based on financial need, scholarship, and dedication to the nursing profession. Scholarships are awarded to selected students based on the completion of volunteer work with the RCUA each semester. Candidates must be enrolled in a program leading to a nursing degree and must be accepted into a nursing program. The selection committee meets in August to review the applications, and students will be notified of their awards the first week of September. Two students will be selected from the pool of applicants, and awardees will each receive funds to help continue their education.
