Redemption and Access

To access pre-order and Deluxe Edition content, players must redeem their single-use code (if a code is required), log into the game, and log into Ultimate Team mode while connected to EA servers. Pre-order content will not be available if you redeem after July 19, 2025. Early access will not be available if you redeem after July 18, 2024. For digital pre-orders, Product will be available to download once early access period begins on July 15, 2024 4:00 pm Eastern Time.

Gameplay Mechanics

"College Football 25" introduces several new gameplay mechanics that enhance the overall experience.

Passing Game

Passing is a critical aspect of the game, with a focus on timing and accuracy. The game introduces a "Placement & Accuracy" passing type, allowing for more precise passes and control over power through visual targets. Leading a receiver involves anticipating a WR’s route and throwing the ball to where they will be, rather than where they currently are.

Running Game

While passing is prominent, a balanced offensive attack is essential. The game emphasizes the importance of hitting the right holes and utilizing analog movements to navigate the field. Running the ball can be tricky at times but the seemingly fundamental aspects of ball carrying (ie. hitting the right holes) is so critical and even the slightest analog movements can result in a huge play or embarrassingly running into your O-Lineman.

Defensive Play

Defensively, the game requires precise tackling and anticipation. Traditional, button-based, tackling is the way to go. Utilizing player lock with your left analog and trying to anticipate the direction of the ball carrier. Another way to score W’s in College Football 25 is dominating the line of scrimmage. A good swim move from your D-Lineman can have the opposing team’s QB make some bad decisions.

The Road to Release

The development of "College Football 25" has been a long and complex process.

NIL and Player Likeness

Following the release of the series' previous entry in 2013, Electronic Arts (EA) settled a lawsuit brought by former college football players who argued their name, image and, likeness (NIL) were used without permission or compensation. Initially, player names and likenesses were not to be included in the game. Because of this, several schools, including Notre Dame, Tulane and Northwestern refused to join the game until NIL rules were finalized. However, EA Sports has since worked to include real players in the game, with over 10,000 athletes signed up.

Commentary Team

ESPN's lead college football commentary team of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit announced that they would be featured as commentators. Herbstreit was a commentator in EA's original NCAA Football series until its hiatus after NCAA Football 14.

Post-Release Reception

Upon release, "College Football 25" received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its Dynasty Mode and gameplay.
