Student Employment at EKU

Types of Work Study Programs
At Eastern Kentucky University, there are two types of work-study programs:

- Federal Work-Study: To determine eligibility for Federal Work-Study funding, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Institutional Work-Study: FAFSA completion is not a requirement for Institutional Work-Study.

Onboarding Process
Upon being selected for a position, the following steps are required:
- Background Check: Complete a background check, if required for the specific position.
- Paperwork and I-9 Form: Complete all necessary paperwork and provide original documents for the I-9 form. These documents are required to verify identity and demonstrate work eligibility.
- HR Office Visit: Once the paperwork and original documents are prepared, visit the HR Office, located in the Jones Building, Office 117. Plan for a 15 to 30-minute visit. Bring bank information, including account and routing numbers, for direct deposit setup.
