The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is a state-funded program designed to provide residents of New Jersey with a transformative undergraduate experience. Middlesex College’s Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) delivers an array of holistic support services necessary to achieve academic success, foster personal growth, financial support, and promote career development, through comprehensive advising. Since its establishment by the New Jersey legislature EOF has supported and mentored over 50,000 student graduates to become successful professionals in the community.
Core Mission and Support System
The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) provides financial assistance and support services (e.g. counseling, tutoring, and developmental course work) to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds who attend participating institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey.
Stockton University offers two EOF programs. Both programs offer the same foundational services and support and career readiness, including service-learning per semester.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
Admission into EOF is conducted at the campus level. Since EOF is a campus-based program, each campus program is responsible for student recruitment, selection, program services, and its own specific criteria for EOF admission and program participation. It is essential to directly contact the EOF program at the specific college or university you are interested in attending to understand their specific requirements and application procedures.

First-Time Freshman Applicants
You are considered a First-Time Freshman Applicant if you have never attended any college or university after graduating high school. Applicants must have received a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Financial Aid Application
To apply, students must complete the Financial Aid Application. StocktonUniversity’s FAFSA code is 009345.
Stockton University-EOF accepts applications for the fall and spring terms, subject to the availability of funds. Academic year application is required For entry into the program during the fall or spring semester. The New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application is also necessary.
Financial Assistance: Undergraduate and Graduate Levels
The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund provides financial assistance and support for a small graduate program.

Undergraduate Grants
Undergraduate grants range from $200 annually to $3,050 annually depending on the type of institution and financial need.
Graduate Grants
The objective of the graduate EOF program is to increase participation in graduate and professional study of New Jersey residents from backgrounds of historical poverty. Graduate grants range from $200 annually to $4,900 annually depending on the type of institution and financial need. Students who received EOF grants as undergraduates shall be given priority consideration for EOF graduate grants however, to be considered for the graduate grant you must apply for the grant every academic year, the grant does not automatically roll over. These students are presumed to have met the financial eligibility criteria for graduate EOF as long as they continue to demonstrate financial need.
Participating Institutions
Currently there are forty New Jersey colleges and universities that participate in the Fund. However, the actual number of available spaces at each college or university is limited.
