Exploring Student Employment Opportunities
EKU's Student Employment Program presents students with unique job opportunities. These can include positions at Meadowbrook Farm, Campus Recreation, or the Noel Studio, among others. For sport-specific opportunities, students can contact the Director of Operations of the sports team to inquire about available internship/student worker positions. Note that not all sports offer these opportunities.
Work Study Programs at EKU
At Eastern Kentucky University, there are two primary types of work-study programs:
- Federal Work-Study
- Institutional Work-Study
To determine eligibility for Federal Work-Study funding, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). However, completing a FAFSA is not a requirement for Institutional Work-Study. Eligibility for either program does not guarantee a position.

- You Got the Job! Upon being selected for a position, the first step is to complete a background check (if needed).
Onboarding Process
Upon completing the paperwork, you will need to provide original documents for the I-9 form. These are required to verify identity and show work eligibility. Once you have your paperwork and original documents prepared, you will need to come to the HR Office, located in the Jones Building, Office 117. Please prepare for a 15 to 30-minute visit. Be sure to bring your bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit setup.
Internship Opportunities in Athletics
The Athletics Department at EKU offers various internship opportunities for students interested in gaining experience in sports-related fields. These internships provide hands-on experience and exposure to the operations of a Division I athletic program.
Athletics Facilities and Operations Internship
The Athletics Facilities and Operations Intern will assist in the daily management and operational functions of athletic facilities and events. This role provides hands-on experience in facility maintenance, event setup and breakdown, and game-day operations. This is an unpaid position. Reports To: Matthew Branham. Employment Type: Internship (Unpaid). Position Summary: The Athletics Facilities and Operations Intern will assist in the daily management and operational functions of athletic facilities and events. This role provides hands-on experience in facility maintenance, event setup and breakdown, and game-day operations.
Student Creative Services Assistant
The Student Creative Services Assistant plays a key role in supporting the visual content needs of EKU Athletics.

Athletics Marketing Internship
The EKU Athletics Marketing Department is seeking Marketing and Fan Engagement interns. The Athletics Marketing Department creates and executes marketing plans for all varsity athletics programs as well as department and university-wide marketing initiatives. This is an unpaid position.
EKU Athletics Ticket Office Internship
The EKU Athletics Ticket Office is seeking dependable and motivated interns to assist with day-to-day ticket operations, sales, and game day support.
