Core Pillars of the Goizueta MBA Experience
The Goizueta MBA program is structured around three key pillars: academic rigor, experiential learning, and reflective practice. This comprehensive approach ensures that students not only gain a strong theoretical foundation but also develop the practical skills and self-awareness necessary for effective leadership.
Academic Foundation
The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of core business principles, from advanced analytics to zero-based budgeting. Students can tailor their learning through elective courses, allowing them to delve deeper into areas of particular interest or relevance to their career goals. For those with prior expertise in certain functional areas, Goizueta offers the option to waive out of core courses by taking waiver exams, enabling them to further customize their curriculum with elective courses. The MBA is STEM-designated, integrating quantitative, analytical, and AI-driven coursework.
Experiential Learning
Goizueta places a strong emphasis on action-based learning, recognizing that the best way to develop problem-solving skills is through hands-on experience. The Goizueta IMPACT program provides opportunities for students to work as consultants for real clients, tackling real-world business challenges. Students also benefit from immersive global study trips, which offer firsthand exposure to international business practices and diverse cultural perspectives. Leadership training is another key component of the experiential learning pillar, with programs designed to develop students' leadership skills and prepare them to lead effectively in a variety of contexts.
Reflective Practice
In addition to academic coursework and experiential learning, Goizueta encourages students to engage in reflective practice, fostering self-awareness and personal growth. This involves critical self-assessment, reflection on experiences, and the development of a personal leadership philosophy. By encouraging students to reflect on their strengths, weaknesses, and values, Goizueta helps them to become more effective and ethical leaders.

One-Year MBA
One-year MBA programs have slowly been on the rise in the US, lagging behind the popularity of the degree in Europe. Emory’s one-year MBA can be the perfect solution for those looking to accelerate their existing career path since a traditional summer internship is not a necessity for those continuing within their existing functions or industries. Whether you work in finance, consulting, marketing, tech, or any number of fields, the one-year MBA provides an accelerated pathway to advanced roles. The intensive nature of an accelerated MBA enables students to focus on putting into practice what they learn to accelerate the trajectory of their current career and move into leadership roles after the program. Although one-year MBA programs offer slightly fewer electives than a traditional full-time MBA, electives are often used for career exploration and not necessary for those advancing within their existing fields. At Emory’s one-year MBA students complete 10 electives (vs. Career switchers shouldn’t rule out Emory’s one-year MBA degree either. The Goizueta One-Year MBA program begins with an immersive summer semester that sets the tone for your entire MBA experience. From day one, you'll engage in team-building activities, leadership exercises, and outdoor challenges designed to help you connect with your classmates and faculty while building essential business skills. By completing core coursework over the summer, you gain the flexibility to customize your remaining two semesters with electives that align with your career goals.

The obvious reasons to pursue Emory’s one-year MBA are the reduced time to completion and cost. Requiring just one year to complete instead of two reduces your time away from your career and away from a steady income. The one-year MBA program is also less expensive than the traditional full-time MBA program. This translates to a faster return on investment for one-year MBA students. It’s worth noting that Emory one-year MBA graduates realize similar salary outcomes as their two-year MBA counterparts. For the class of 2022, 94% of graduates accepted job offers within three months of graduation.
