The FSA operates under a contract with the State University of New York (SUNY) in conformance with guidelines established for New York campuses. For instance, the Faculty Student Association (FSA) is a New York State not-for-profit corporation governed by a board of directors composed of seven students, three university administrators, three faculty, one classified staff member, and one alumni member all representing the State University of New York at Fredonia. The services offered by the Faculty Student Association are diverse and far-reaching, touching upon many aspects of student and faculty life. These services are often crucial for the daily operations and overall experience of the campus community.

Campus Dining: Nourishing the Community

Food services are a prominent area of FSA involvement. With the start of the Fall 2011 semester, the Faculty Student Association [FSA] opened the self operated FSA Cafes and Concessions on campus. The FSA is committed to providing high-quality products and superior customer service to the entire campus community. The cafes in Mason, and McEwen Halls are FSA self-branded operations. At this time, there are no further licenses or franchises intended beyond the Starbucks in University Commons.

The FSA oversees the campus food service. The Viking Café (main cafeteria), located in the Student Center Building, serves students, faculty, and staff. The Viking Cafe offers a wide variety of food options, fresh made salad bar, made-to- order sandwiches and hot meals. This commitment to providing diverse and accessible dining options is a testament to the FSA's dedication to student welfare.

Retail and Convenience: Essential Campus Resources

Beyond dining, the FSA often manages essential retail operations. The College Bookstore, operated by Barnes & Noble Education is conveniently located within the David Swope Student Center. Vending and ATM services also fall under the FSA's purview, providing convenient access to refreshments and financial services across campus. There are two (2) ATM machines located on campus.

Supporting Student Life and Development

The association's operating surplus is used, in part, to fund student and faculty activities and purchases to help supplement the college's budget. The FSA annually supports student clubs, student and campus events, athletic programs, the Stephen B. Luce Library, scholarships, and faculty academic enrichment and professional development.

This support for student clubs and campus events directly contributes to the co-curricular experience, offering students opportunities for leadership, community building, and personal growth. The Department of Student Involvement believes that every student has the right to community, connection, and self development. We are committed to providing comprehensive and meaningful educational experiences for students in the co-curriculum. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Involvement for Leadership and Multicultural Programs, the Coordinator of LGBTQIA+ Programs will be responsible for providing support for all LGBTQIA+ programs in the areas of planning, executing and assessing. This illustrates how FSA funding can enable specialized programs that enhance diversity and inclusion on campus.

Health and Wellness Services

In some instances, the FSA may also be involved in the provision or oversight of health and wellness services. The FSA oversees domestic health insurance. While the College will not offer Voluntary Student Sickness Insurance policies as of September 2015, information on eligibility for individual coverage is made available through the Benefits Access Center Office. This demonstrates the FSA's role in ensuring students have access to essential health resources.
