General Scholarship Opportunities

Fairfield County's Community Foundation (FCCF) manages a significant scholarship program for both graduating high school students and those already enrolled in college. They steward over 150 scholarship funds established by generous individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that help students pursue their post-secondary education and strengthen the future of our communities. Since 2010, FCCF has provided 4,786 scholarship opportunities and awarded more than $8.7 million in scholarship funds. The Fairfield County Foundation holds over 130 scholarship funds for the benefit of area students. Over 100 of these funds are administered using the Foundations online system and the majority can be applied to by using the universal application.

Fairfield County Foundation Scholarships

The Fairfield County Foundation scholarship application for the 2026-2027 academic year will open on December 1, 2025. The preliminary deadline for the 2026-2027 year is Monday, February 9, 2026, and the full deadline for the online application is Friday, March 6, 2026.

To access the scholarship application portal and check the status of your application, visit the Fairfield County Foundation website. The site offers over 100 scholarships, many of which are awarded to multiple recipients, all accessible through one online application.

Paper Applications:

Some scholarships require a paper application. These applications will be posted on the Fairfield County Foundation website after they open on December 1, 2025, for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Eligibility:

Applicants need to be a current resident, native resident, attending a high school in, or be a high school graduate from Fairfield County. There are three exceptions to this requirement. The Sheyla M.

Requirements for Application:

A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately.
A copy of your FAFSA Summary Report including your name and Student Aid Index (SAI). NOTE: This report is generated and sent to you after your FAFSA-Free Application for Federal Student Aid has been submitted and processed. Visit fafsa.gov for details.

Additional Scholarship Funds:

The program consists of many separate scholarship funds administered by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. Distribution amount and number of awards for each fund is determined annually by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. Payment of awards will be sent directly to each student made payable to the student’s college on behalf of the Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. If a student interrupts or terminates attendance at school, any unused portion of the award must be returned to Scholarship America. Students are allowed to defer their award for one semester or one academic year, whichever is requested. Applicants will be notified in late July. Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. Payment is made in August. Students may receive up to two awards for which they are eligible. Students apply by completing the online application. Students do not need to select scholarships, but will be considered for all awards listed. Depending upon the fund, selection of recipients and/or finalists will be made by Scholarship America.

Deadlines and Submission:

All application submissions are final as of the deadline with no exceptions. Late submissions or edits will not be accepted for any portion of the online application. Scholarship awards will start in April and possibly continue through June. Not all scholarship awards are released at one time.

Scholarships Requiring Separate Paper Applications

Shelly Strigle Memorial Scholarship: Established to honor Shelly Strigle, this scholarship partially covers tuition to attend Fisher Catholic High School. It is a Lancaster Rotary Club Scholarship.
Edward N. Sands Scholarship: The Trustees of the Ed Sands fund encourage residents of Liberty Union-Thurston school district who feel they have a financial need to apply. They must be attending an Ohio tax supported institution of higher learning.
Donald I. Rodenbaugh Engineering Scholarship: Established by Mr. Rodenbaugh's family, this scholarship supports students enrolled in a College of Engineering at a state-supported university in Ohio.
Trevor and Violet Jones Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship for Walnut Township Local High School, honoring former history teacher, principal and coach of Millersport High School.

Scholarships Available Through the Online Application

Andrew “Drew” Townsend-Engle Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship was created by friends and loved ones of Andrew “Drew” Townsend-Engle to remember a bright light that was unfortunately lost far too soon. The scholarship is for a Lancaster High School graduating senior who is an active member of one or more of the Lancaster High School Choirs. The student should have at least a 2.5 GPA on the weighted scale and must have a passion for the art of performance.
Eva G. Eyman Scholarship: Preference is given to students whose families indicate financial need. Applicants must be a resident of Fairfield County and be planning to attend an Ohio University campus for undergraduate studies. Scholarship awards for post-graduate study outside the state of Ohio will be considered. Recipient must maintain an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher and a GPA of 3.2 in designated major area.
Jerry Floyd Memorial Scholarship: Bess H. Floyd, wishing to perpetuate the memory of her son, Jerry Floyd, established scholarships for the recognition and furtherance of excellence in architecture, landscape design and interior design. Must be a resident of Fairfield County. One letter of recommendation must be from a professional practitioner in your area of interest.
Dr. Phil Floyd Dentistry Scholarship: In 1991 Bess H. Floyd established a scholarship in honor of her husband, Dr. Phil Floyd, to provide for the recognition and furtherance of excellence in the fields of dentistry, including dental hygiene. One letter of recommendation must be from a professional practitioner in your area of interest. Must be a resident of Fairfield County.
Clarence and Edna Steenrod Scholarship: Dr. Clarence Steenrod’s widow established this fund to recognize the work of her husband who was a distinguished and long-time optometrist in Lancaster. Applicants should have already completed an undergraduate degree and should be starting Optometry school. Must be resident of Fairfield County.
James & Viola Wayland Accounting & Computer Science Scholarship: Funds bequeathed by the late James and Viola Wayland have created an endowment for scholarships in accounting or computer science. Recipient must maintain an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher and a GPA of 3.2 in designated major area of accounting or computer science. Must be resident of Fairfield County.
James & Viola Wayland Student's Choice Scholarship: Funds bequeathed by the late James & Viola Wayland have created an endowment for scholarships in a field of study that the student may choose. Recipient must maintain an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher and a GPA of 3.2 in designated major area. Must be resident of Fairfield County.
Robert E. and Marion A. Carr Scholarship: Mr. & Mrs. Carr established this scholarship in 2003 for students pursuing a degree in the study of Nursing and/or Teaching/Education. The recipients must be a resident of Fairfield County. This award may be for a four or two year accredited college. Scholarship may be awarded up to four consecutive years; however, recipient must reapply each year.
Charles C. and Barbara Claypool Scholarship: Established in 1997 to provide a scholarship fund that will make a lasting and significant contribution to certain students seeking educational opportunities in technical fields and especially engineering. Students must reside in Fairfield County (except for children of employees).
Keith Kumler Vocational Scholarship: Family and friends established this scholarship in memory of Keith Kumler for students who will be attending an accredited vocational or technical school for study in the automotive field. Must be resident of Fairfield County.
Officer Brett Markwood Scholarship: This Scholarship was formed by Officer Brett Markwood’s family and friends after Officer Markwood was shot in the line of duty. This scholarship is for Fairfield County students to attend a police academy, a technical school for law enforcement training or a four year college in a law enforcement related field.
Dr. Martha Gesling Weber Scholarship: Family, friends and former students established this memorial scholarship to recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Weber in the field of Education with emphasis on Reading Education. Must be resident of Fairfield County.

The Grant Munro Scholarship Program assists students who have graduated from high schools in Fairfield County, OH and who are attending accredited undergraduate or graduate schools in medical or ministry fields. Ohio-Based Scholarships

Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships: The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation annually awards scholarships to students planning to pursue careers in agriculture and to adults seeking continuing education in agriculture-related studies. Each county has a scholarship fund to allot to its local students. Please note that the most scholarships are due March 31, 2026.
Ohio 4-H Scholarships: Ohio 4-H supports excellence in leadership, citizenship, service, and project work through scholarships that help youth pursue higher education. The application window is open now, with a priority deadline of February 15, 2026. Current college students and high school seniors can apply through two pathways: those attending The Ohio State University should use Scholarship Universe at osu.scholarshipuniverse.com, while students attending other institutions can apply via this link.
OAC Scholarships: OAC annually offers scholarships to assist students in pursuing a career in an agricultural-related field. Scholarships are available to high school seniors preparing to enter college or any undergraduate student currently enrolled in college. Applicants or their parent or legal guardian must be a resident of Ohio. Scholarships are selected based on academic record, leadership qualities, community involvement and responses to application essay questions. The Columbus Foundation: Dorrin and Ruth Ross Scholarship: The scholarship was established by Dorrin and Ruth Ross. Natives of Licking County, Ohio, Dorrin and Ruth married and moved to Columbus in 1935. Mr. Following Ruth Ross’s graduation from Bliss College in Columbus, she became a corporate secretary and the owner and broker of Gateway Realty. Eventually, she took a position with the Ohio Rehabilitation Department, where she worked until disabled by illness in 1986. Mrs. Ross died in June, 1988. The scholarship is indicative of Mrs.

National Scholarships with Agricultural Focus

Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) Scholarship Programs: The Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) has announced that applications are now open for its 2026 scholarship programs, offering two distinct opportunities to support students pursuing education and careers connected to the livestock marketing industry.
Sullivan Supply Scholarships: Sullivan Supply is giving away twenty $1,000 scholarships to students who are passionate about the livestock show world or livestock production. No ag major required-just genuine commitment to staying involved in the industry. These scholarships are fully funded by Sullivan Supply and selected by an independent, confidential panel of five respected industry leaders. To keep the process fair, the Sullivan family, Sullivan Supply employees, and their immediate family members aren’t part of the committee and aren’t eligible to apply. The deadline is March 15th.
POET Never Satisfied Scholarship Program: POET is awarding $75,000 in scholarships to students who prove they are Never Satisfied. Applications open now through April 17th. If you consider higher education the first step toward your aspirations, POET wants to help you get there. The POET Never Satisfied Scholarship Program awards up to $75k in total scholarships to students who are Never Satisfied with “good enough” and share POET’s mission to create a brighter future. Both 4-and-2-year accredited universities are eligible to apply. Recipients attending a 4-year university will receive a $5,000 scholarship and those attending a technical university will receive a $2,500 scholarship. We’re looking for individuals whose drive and ambition help them to see the world differently - who take the task of creating change into their own hands.

Sunrise Cooperative $1,000 College Scholarships: The Sunrise Cooperative $1,000 College Scholarships are one year in length and are open to all children and grandchildren of Sunrise Cooperative common stockholders, or all children and grandchildren of active full-time Sunrise Cooperative employees who are enrolling or are currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year accredited college program.
