Interns experience multiple facets of the communications industry and engage with account staff on a variety of projects, including research, writing, event coordination and staffing, media relations and creative brainstorming. Day-to-day (and hour-to-hour) responsibilities may span from analyzing campaign data, crafting customized social media metrics reports, monitoring and optimizing active campaigns, assisting in the management and creation of paid social campaigns, building custom audiences, navigating advertising opportunities for existing and emerging social platforms, conducting social media research and ongoing monitoring, etc.

Specific Requirements and Qualifications
FleishmanHillard offers college juniors, seniors, recent college graduates and graduate school students the opportunity to learn from leading public relations experts through a comprehensive internship program. FleishmanHillard hires interns for spring, summer and fall semesters that mirror a standard academic calendar. Full-time, paid internships (37.5 hours per week) are available, but no part-time. Interns are compensated on the same schedule as all other FleishmanHillard employees and receive overtime pay when applicable.
Academic Standing and Skills
Interns must be a college junior or above with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicants should have excellent communications and critical thinking skills and be able to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. While a strong interest in public relations is a must, our internship is not exclusive to public relations or communications majors.
Desired Attributes
The ideal candidate for a Social & Digital team internship must be social media savvy, comfortable manipulating and interpreting data, has experience pivoting between multiple projects, able to navigate data analytics and is highly detail oriented. Proficient or interested in analyzing and interpreting high volumes of data.
Locations and Practice Areas
FleishmanHillard has nearly 80 offices in more than 30 countries, plus affiliates in 45 countries. Each intern is assigned a point person and works primarily within one of FleishmanHillard’s practice groups. Interns are expected to work with professionals in their practice groups, and around the office, in order to gain an understanding of our clients various industries.

The D.C. office touches a unique portfolio of clients across a wide variety of sectors. Employees in the D.C. office come from a variety of backgrounds in public relations and government policy to provide the highest-quality counsel for our clients.
The Application Process
Qualified candidates will have recently earned their bachelor’s or graduate degree, or currently be enrolled in a graduate program. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and will have successfully completed at least three previous internships, one of which being in an agency environment. Applicants must submit a résumé and cover letter specifying up to three areas of interest (Consumer Marketing, Corporate Communications, Technology, Media Relations, Content Production, Social/Digital, Research & Analytics, and Healthcare).
