Understanding FGCU's Acceptance Rate

FGCU's 25th percentile SAT score is 1050, and the 75th percentile score is 1200. This means that if you score around 1050, you're below average compared to admitted students, while a score of 1200 puts you above average.

Superscoring Policy

FGCU employs a "superscoring" policy for the SAT. This means that the university will consider your highest section scores from all the SAT test dates you submit, combining them to form your Superscore. This policy allows you to focus on improving individual section scores and submit only the tests that contribute to your highest possible Superscore. If your SAT superscore is currently below 1050, consider prepping for the SAT and retaking it. Focus your energy on a single section at a time. If your Reading score is lower than your other sections, prep only for the Reading section, then take the SAT. Then focus on Math for the next test, and so on.

ACT Scores

The average ACT score at FGCU is 23. The 25th percentile ACT score is 20, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 25. When sending ACT scores to colleges, you have absolute control over which tests you send. You could take 10 tests, and only send your highest one. To try to aim for the school's ACT requirement of 20 and above, you should try to take the ACT as many times as you can.

ACT Superscoring Policy

Most colleges do not superscore the ACT. We weren't able to find the school's exact ACT policy, which most likely means that it does not Superscore.

Optional Essay Section

FGCU considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration.

For the fall semester intake of 2023, the minimum high school GPA on a 4.0 scale was 3.0 for Florida residents and 3.2 for out-of-state applicants, so you'll want to aim for at least this. In addition, FGCU would like to see a minimum SAT score of 900 (this is Math + Reading and Writing scores combined) or an ACT score of 19.

College Preparatory Program

FGCU has a preference for students completing a solid college-preparatory program in high school. This would ideally feature four courses each in English and in Mathematics, three Natural sciences, Social sciences, and Foreign Language courses, and two courses that are either Arts or electives.

Scholarships

Automatic scholarships are available based on your GPA and SAT/ACT, but you are encouraged to apply early in the admissions cycle to get these as funds run out. For example, there is a President's Scholarship of $5,000 per year awarded to students with a 3.9 weighted GPA or higher and at least an 1850 SAT or 28 ACT.
