Navigating Your Florida State University Application Status

Applying to Florida State University (FSU) is an exciting step toward your academic future. Undergraduate Admissions: Checking Your Status

After submitting the application, you will gain access to your Admissions Portal. After you have submitted your application, you will be routed to your Application Status Page. This portal is the central hub for tracking your application progress. Here's what you need to know:

Test Scores

FSU employs a "super scoring" method, using the highest earned ACT, CLT, and SAT sub scores to calculate the highest possible ACT, CLT and/or SAT total score. FSU considers scores from every individual test date to ensure the highest possible superscore. Since accuracy is critical, students must have a copy of their score report(s) available to reference when self-reporting their scores. We strongly recommend using your complete score report when completing the Self-reported Test Scores form. To complete this form, you must list at least one set of test scores. At least one test score must be submitted before the application deadline, but additional tests may be considered if provided by the test score deadline.

Academic Transcripts

All students, including international applicants, must submit official or certified copies of all secondary school records and/or examination results. system for any length of time. Application Fee

Florida State University's first-year application fee is $30. The Common App carries an additional $5 processing fee. Waitlist Information

Students offered a space on the waitlist are those FSU would like to offer admission to, but are unable to due to the limited size of the incoming class. As space becomes available, FSU will review the waitlist to finalize the first-year class. No additional information is required to accept a waitlist offer. However, students may share additional details about why they wish to attend FSU through their Admissions Portal. FSU will make decisions from the waitlist as early as possible, but students should not expect an update on their admission status until after May 1. Students cannot request to be on the waitlist. FSU does not know the likelihood of being admitted from the waitlist, and the number of waitlist offers varies each year. Accepting your place on the waitlist does not commit you to Florida State University. Sending a letter of continued interest is not necessary. What will this mean for orientation registration? You will receive information about registering for orientation if you are admitted from the waitlist. Orientation sessions are offered throughout the summer; however, there may be fewer session dates available after May 1.

Special Programs

  • University Honors Program: Students should select Yes to the question "Are you interested in applying to the University Honors Program?" on the admissions application to populate a separate Honors supplemental application on the Admissions Portal.
  • CARE Summer Bridge Program: To apply for the CARE Summer Bridge Program, students should select Yes to the question "Are you interested in applying to the CARE Summer Bridge Program?" on the admissions application and complete the separate CARE supplemental application on the Admissions Portal.

Additional Opportunities for Admission

  • FSU Next Program: The FSU Next Program provides an opportunity for students to start their pathway to FSU by taking 12-15 credit hours at Tallahassee State College in the fall. In addition, students will also take a unique, in-person course on the FSU campus.
  • Aspire Transfer Program: We encourage student to explore the Aspire Transfer Program.
  • First Year Abroad (FYA) Pathway: Applicants will also need to pay the application fee for the study abroad application and have or apply for a valid passport. Applications are processed on a rolling, space available basis, so submit your application early. Out-of-state students who successfully complete the First Year Abroad pathway will have the added benefit of receiving an out-of-state tuition waiver for the remainder of their bachelor's degree on the Tallahassee campus.
    • FYA Panama City: You start your FSU experience in the summer term at the FSU Panama City campus and automatically continue into the fall term. After the spring term, you may choose to continue your education at the FSU Panama City campus or request a transfer to the FSU Tallahassee campus for the summer or fall term. You will need to complete a Campus Location Change Form at the end of the spring semester if transferring to the Tallahassee campus.
    • FYA International Programs: You start your FSU experience in the summer term by completing an online course offered through International Programs. In addition to successful completion of the online course, you must enroll for the fall term at one of FSU's study abroad centers in London, England; Florence, Italy; Valencia, Spain; or Panama City, Republic of Panama. Following your semester abroad, you would be eligible to join us in Tallahassee in January. You start your FSU experience in the summer term by completing an online course offered through International Programs. In addition to successful completion of the online course, you must enroll for the fall & spring terms at one of FSU's study abroad centers in London, England; Florence, Italy; Valencia, Spain; or Panama City, Republic of Panama. Following your year abroad, you would then be eligible to join us in Tallahassee.

Reapplying or Appealing a Decision

If you are denied admission and still wish to attend FSU, you are encouraged to reapply in the future after earning an Associate in Arts degree or completing 60+ semester hours. Denied students should not reapply for first-year admission. FSU will consider an appeal only if it reveals new academic or personal information that was not present in your initial admission application. Students with A.A. Degrees

A high school student earning both the standard high school diploma and an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree must apply to FSU as a first-year student and must adhere to the first-year admission deadlines. In addition, applicants may be subject to additional major deadlines/requirements. Those students who are receiving an A.A. degree through dual enrollment from the Florida College System or the State University System of Florida no later than the date of their high school graduation but do not meet the admissions requirements under the Florida Board of Governors Admission Regulation 6.002, will automatically be considered for admission under Florida Board of Governors Admission Regulation 6.005, provided the expected AA is indicated on the admission application. Students admitted under this regulation are first-time-in-college (FTIC) students although they are not required to submit ACT, CLT, or SAT scores. However, they should meet the requirements for their selected major as listed in FSU's Academic Program Guide. If admitted, they must submit a $200 enrollment deposit, attend a first-year orientation session, and are eligible to apply for on-campus housing. Admitted students without a test score are not eligible to be considered for first-year merit scholarships from the Office of Admissions. Students considered for admission under FL BOG 6.005 will be required to submit a final official college transcript displaying the A.A. before enrolling at FSU. Any FTIC student admitted under this regulation must immediately notify the Office of Admissions if they will not receive their degree. All first-year students admitted under this regulation who do not receive the Associate in Arts degree will have their offer of admission revoked.

Counselor Information

The Common App does require students to provide a counselor contact information. However, Florida State University requires no further action on behalf of the counselor. Appeals Process

*Requests for graduate admission appeals from students should be submitted to the Dean of the Graduate School. Applicants to graduate programs who meet minimum University requirements for admission and who are denied admission or readmission to a graduate program, or as a non-degree student, may request reconsideration of their applications. Written requests for reconsideration must be received by the Graduate School within thirty days of the notification of denial. The appeal shall be reviewed by a standing committee of the appropriate academic department. This committee shall be composed of members of the graduate faculty and at least one graduate student.
