Private scholarships must be reported as outside aid, as they are a financial resource that will be used in determining the need for other aid. The financial aid award may be adjusted based on receipt of scholarships at any time during the academic year.

Disbursement of Private Scholarships

To ensure timely disbursement, all checks should be made payable to Florida State University. Once a private scholarship check has been received, it will automatically disburse and pay for outstanding tuition, followed by any outstanding fees, including housing, dining, books, parking tickets, etc. Financial aid is applied to the MyFSU bill at the beginning of the term, generally by the fifth day of classes. If, after the fifth day of classes, the scholarship still has not posted to the MyFSU bill, the donor should be contacted to confirm when and where they sent the scholarship checks. If a student is enrolled in fewer than six credit hours, written approval from the donor will be needed to disburse the scholarship. Florida State University does not forward funds to other colleges but will return funds to the donor.

Award: The amount stated is for general information purposes and not a guarantee of what a student may receive if awarded.
Name: This is the name of the scholarship opportunity being offered as well as any details concerning the application process (criteria which must be met for students to qualify and additional supplemental information that will be required to be provided in order for them to be considered).
Deadline: The date by which students should complete the General Application, any Supplemental Applications, or any individual scholarship applications to receive consideration.
