Navigating Fresno City College Transcript Requests: A Comprehensive Guide
Obtaining your academic transcript from Fresno City College is a crucial step for various purposes, whether you're transferring to another institution, applying for a job, or simply maintaining a record of your academic achievements. This guide provides a detailed overview of the transcript request process at Fresno City College, including costs, procedures, and important considerations.
Understanding Official and Unofficial Transcripts
Fresno City College provides both official and unofficial transcripts. An official transcript is a certified copy of your academic record, typically required for applications to other institutions or employers. It is sent directly from the college to the recipient. An unofficial transcript, on the other hand, is for your personal use and can be accessed through Self-Service.
You can access grades for the most recent Semester by logging into Self-Service (through My Portal) and choosing Grades, or for all semesters by choosing View/Print my Unofficial Transcript. Grades and Unofficial Transcripts cannot be viewed during the last week of a semester or the week following the end of the semester due to grading system limitations.
Cost and Fees for Official Transcripts
Students are entitled to obtain two free official transcript copies in their lifetime; each additional copy is $5 (plus applicable sales tax) and must be paid in advance. Effective January 6, 2025: Sales tax will now be automatically applied to requests when applicable. If you do not know if you have used your free copies, log into Self-Service, click on Academics and then select Transcript Requests from the side menu to view your processed requests as we cannot begin to process your transcripts until fees are paid. For login assistance, call the Student Systems Support Call Center at (559) 499-6072.

- Grades Availability: You can request Official Transcripts for the semester you have just completed. Grades are initially available approximately two weeks after the end of the semester.
- Holds: You will not be permitted to receive your transcript if a hold has been levied against your registration.
Understanding Grading System and GPA
Fresno City College uses the five-letter grading system. Letters A, B, C, D, and P indicate passing grades; NP indicates no pass; F indicates failing. The "D" grade is passing but may not be considered satisfactory for meeting all graduation requirements. Meet with a counselor to discuss the impact of D grades to your degree progress or to your Student Education Plan (SEP). In addition, the "D" does not meet requirements for prerequisite courses.
The grade point average (GPA) is computed by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of grade point units.
The instructor's grades are permanent. Once they have been transmitted to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Admissions and Records, they are not subject to change by reason of revision or judgment by the instructor or on the basis of a second examination or additional work.
Pass/No Pass Grading Option
Once enrolled in a class, students may elect to receive a Pass/No Pass designation instead of a standard letter grade (A,B,C,D,F). If you are planning to transfer to another college or university, you should first contact that institution regarding their policy on accepting Pass/No Pass grades before selecting this option as the grading type cannot be reversed once the grade is issued. You should also speak with an FCC Counselor before electing Pass/No Pass as some courses require an A-D grade to be counted towards your degree or certificate.
Students should submit their Pass/No Pass request online no later than the Monday of the week prior to the final week of the class to be considered before grades are submitted. Contact Admissions and Records for assistance in determining the exact date for your class. Students who have elected Pass/No Pass from the grading option section may reverse this decision only within these same deadlines.

Prerequisites and Co-requisites
Prerequisites are classes that you must have passed with a grade of “C” or better prior to the start of the class for which it is a prerequisite. Co-requisites are classes that must be taken during the same enrollment period as the class for which it is a co-requisite, unless they were completed previously.
If you register online and you receive a prerequisite or co-requisite error, return to Counseling. If the prerequisite or co-requisite has been satisfied at a college outside of the State Center Community College District (SCCCD), you will need to forward your official transcripts to us. We accept official electronic transcripts sent directly from your outside college or their transcript vendor. We cannot accept electronic transcripts originally sent to you and then forwarded to us. You may also submit official paper transcripts. Fresno City College Attn: Transcripts 1101 E. If you are not intending to earn a degree or certificate from an SCCCD campus and you have satisfied a prerequisite at a college outside of SCCCD, take your unofficial transcripts to the Counseling Department for review. Overrides for co-requisites require official transcripts as the grade must be transferred in.
