FUNAAB Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide
This guide provides a detailed overview of the FUNAAB (Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta) student portal, outlining essential procedures and information for students.
Verification of Entry Qualifications
As of March 13th, 2017, all students are required to visit their respective College and meet with the Examinations and Records Officer. The purpose of this visit is to verify the entry qualification(s) upon which their admission was based. This step is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of student records and compliance with university regulations.
Payment of School Fees
The next critical step involves the payment of school fees. Students are instructed to proceed to any bank that accepts REMITA, including the FUNAAB Microfinance Bank. Payment can be made using a prescribed fees invoice. Alternatively, students can opt for online payment using a debit card or Internet Banking for added convenience. After payment, students must return to the portal at portal.unaab.edu.ng to generate their receipt, which serves as proof of payment.
Hostel Accommodation
It is important to note that hostel accommodation is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply promptly. Crucially, payment of school fees is a prerequisite for applying for bed space. This ensures that only registered and financially compliant students are eligible for on-campus housing.
Agricultural Biotechnology and Food Security
The university's focus on agriculture brings into sharp focus the role of biotechnology. Biotechnology advances are reshaping agriculture and improving food security among other spheres. However, agricultural biotechnology is a relatively misunderstood science, especially in Africa. As with most new ideas, cutting through the myths and misinformation is a daunting but necessary task, which if not handled well can rollback any advantages inherent in the technology. In the face of a rapidly growing population, declining agricultural productivity, climate change and reduced resources available for agricultural research, policymakers are pressed to make the right decisions and are looking for guidance.
